Hi, I have joined a new lease in Georgia this year with my dad and I have two hunts planned. I plan on going the first of October for archery season to scout out the land and prepare for my second trip in November for rut. I am interested in setting out some kind of attractant like Monster Raxx or something else. My two hunts will be about a month apart so I was wondering what I could set out on my first hunt to attract the deer to my stand for the second hunt. Food plots are out of the question due to lack of time and a tractor. Any info input would be great, thanks!
Are you going to be putting out any feed or a feeder or are you looking to put out a mineral site or a combination of the two?
I won't be able to attend the lease while im not there so I was thinking a feeder would run out too fast. What do you mean a mineral site? Like a mineral lick? Also I really have no experience with feeders or minerals so im not sure what works best.
If you are wanting something to bring in the deer while you can't be there man I would suggest the mineral if it is allowed and maybe a throw n grow type and create a mini honey hole, the Monster Raxx works amazing, and Tom is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to questions regarding this topic, hope this helps at all
I am not sure if hunting over bait is legal in Georgia, I am just trying to figure out what your plans are so I can give you the best opinion I can. I would put out a mineral site when you are there the first time for sure. That will last while you are gone. If you are going to hunt over bait I would mix corn with Monster Raxx Whitetail Magnet, if not I would just spray the Whitetail Magnet on the vegetation in your shooting lanes. Then I would do the same thing when you go back.
I'm pretty sure it's legal to hunt over bait in Georgia..i'll check on that later. That sounds like a good plan to me, thanks for the input.
A 30 gal feeder can last 6-8 weeks also but you need to get a hanging type to keep them away from bears. You may attrack some hogs as well. Good luck
Its only legal to hunt over bait in the Southern Zone in Georgia. Make sure your lease is in that zone before sitting over any bait and hunting. Being from Florida I'm guessing you are not traveling that far north, but I'd double check to be sure.
I would say: put out the Monster Raxx with a little corn and then spray with Whitetail Magnet - the corn and area tree leaves and plants to draw them. once they find the Monster Raxx I don't think you will need feed to keep them coming. My trail camera is showing that. I am new to both Monster Raxx and trail cameras but thats whats working for me right now. I think that Whitetail Magnet from Monster Raxx is really good, my camera is showing the deer sniffing that.
Yes i will be hunting in the southern zone I just checked, thanks for the input I believe I will be going with what Ken6 and Tom said. How many bags of Monster Raxx do you think I need to put out to last a month?
