Alright, so as many of you know... 2008 has been the year of the wedding for all my friends. Well, I'm not out of the game yet. One of my best friends from the time I was 5 is getting married on October 18th. What should I do? His bow season opens Sept. 1, so he'll probably be tagged out by the time the wedding rolls around.

That weekend is the youth gun season, which could work in my favor. We don't have any youth hunters on our lease, but the surrounding properties do. That could work for or against me I realize.

OU also plays Kansas at home (about 3 blocks from my house).

What should I do?

Im gonna miss those youth seasons when I got a month head start on everyone.:cry::cry:

But I have this strange feeling that the rifle wont even leave the case this fall. Where is that coming from??

I would say go to the wedding. If he is your friend from early childhood, you could miss a couple days of hunting, right?:deer:

The wedding, you have been tight with the guy since you were 5. How would you feel if you missed the wedding, went hunting and didn't see a dang deer? That Karma will likely strike your arse plus the doe might look at you like you are shallow. Grab the doe and head to Wyoming for the wedding! I went to Jamaica the last week of October last year and still had an incredible season of hunting:beer:

Haha, the doe might already think I'm shallow

I'm definitely going, it should be the best one of the year! And I guarantee you that if I didn't go, I wouldn't see a deer and I probably wouldn't kill anything for the rest of my life:smash:

Go to Wyoming for the wedding, and take some time to scout public land for 09 elk.

Sorry my friends and family know I don't attend weddings from October to January!! Unless I am tagged out. The only exception would be my daughters but then that is why I have hers this coming weekend. No turkeys no deer yet salmon are not running yet!!! You gotta love a kid that hunts and fish's and set's her own wedding around the seasons!!!! Walt

Go to the wedding. I used to be of the nature that the world stopped when "my" hunting season was in. Last year a friend of mine got married Nov 18. and I joked with him about doing so during hunting season. I still planned to go to his weddding, and shortly before it, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
That kind of REALLY put things into perspective and made me feel bad for even joking that his wedding was costing me a weekend of hunting.
So when it comes to things like that anymore, I can miss a day sitting in a tree.

Ah.. weddings. As much as I dislike weddings in autumn I love a good reception.

If it's a good bud.. you have to go. I had a buddy get married on Halloween weekend a few years back.. as much as I despised it.. it was indeed a good time.

I actually have 4 weddings this autumn during hunting season. I am only attending 2.. but they are both early enough that I don't really care. But I feel sorry for the shmuck at wedding 1. You know who you are.

Drink up.. be merry.. enjoy the love of beer.

Go to the wedding!!!!! The best hunting is still comign at that point. Better on Oct 18 than Nov 9th. The 9th and 10th of Nov. were hot, hot, hot dates for WKP last season.

Bail on the reception?! NEVER! That's the fun part. Show up late, miss the ceremony, but enjoy the party:nana:
