For the first time in years, three weeks prior to bow season until now I still have seen no sign of deer, meaning rubs, scraps, worn down paths, nothing. I have only been out in my stand twice and seen no action. Last couple years my spot was a highly traveled area. Im hunting 10 acres and dont have anyone hunting the properties beside me either. Any thoughts?

You can't kill deer that aren't there. You better get some trail cameras out and start scouting some new locations. Something's up.

I've had a few people tell me that the deer travel different paths in the summer time, and the patterns are just starting to change, and not to move my stand yet. Any truth to this? I dont really have alot of food sources close other than acorns, but I do hunt near bedding and a water source

I'd try and get in contact with your neighbors, even if they don't hunt, and ask if they've seen any deer activity on their land. If they say the same thing, you might just be having a dry year. I really don't know what to do if there just aren't any deer on your land... If there are deer on the other areas next to you, politely ask the neighbors i f they'd let you hunt their land. If they are ranchers or something maybe see if you could do something for them in return such as letting their animals graze your land in return for you hunting theirs

Definitely get some trail cams up. Can you start a food plot? I've been hunting my dad's land for a few years, gotten lucky twice, skunked once but like an idiot, didn't happen to notice the huge apple tree in a spot where I didn't hunt. I was more looking for a place with a good range and view, totally missed the obvious. We'll see if this year is any different. When putting up my stand 10 yards from the apple tree, my dad says "you sure you're going to see deer here? I've only seen one in years this close to the house (300 feet)". 2 weeks later I have 130 pics on my trail cam of deer at the apple tree. Turkey too! He was convinced. I am hopeful for a nice fat doe early in the season to fill my freezer so I can be patient for a nice buck.

Good luck, hope you're not skunked this year.
