Shoot again through vitals, ,reagardless of angle provided you have the skill and equipment to get it done. If not, get down and walk over and finish it.

I had to do this once. It was laying on the ground and I had to shoot it through the guts to hit the lungs but it died quickly afterward.

The smell did draw coyotes and they were on it within an hour while I hunted until it was almost dark.

Here she is, notice the sweat. I was on a dead run to get my 4 wheeler so the yotes wouldn't get her.

Ha thats why I do my fair share of coyote removal.

Had them get one few years back, pretty much everything from shoulder back was gone.

I spine shot one last season an it did drop but was in agony so I hurried up and put another arrow through the vitals and it quickly expired. Just all depends I think.

Normally I will grab an ear and cut the throat. It bleeds them out quick and allows you to cut the wind pipe easier for gutting.

I shot a doe and the broadhead clipped the spine, she dropped and started going around on the ground. I ended having to kneel in my stand to get another arrow. in her. I took the first shot when I could see the white of her under side. The arrow hit the gut and penetrated deep. She was dead by the time I got down.

I've only spined one. It was maybe 5 yards from the bottom of the tree and flopped back and over when I shot it. I sent another his way as quickly as I could as he was thrashing and that ended it quickly.

My buddy spine shot a doe and we handled it badly. He texted me and I asked if he had finished her? He said no, he only brought one arrow. I arrived and it was clear she wasn't moving much, but was very much alive. I nocked one up and let it go, but was so close the arrow hit low and she flopped around and pulled through the arrow. Knife time...sliced her throat, but she was still alive after two minutes. I cut her head completely off before she finally expired.

Obviously, it's not safe to do this with an antlered buck, but be aware of parallax if you are going to shoot from close range. Deer are so strong and their will to survive will frustrate your efforts for a humane kill. It was a disturbing event and I knew she felt terror during the entire ordeal. We didn't talk much on the ride home...neither of us felt very clean.

Nice slick sir.....I love the fact that you went through the guts to take care of the situation....def sets the point.....expire that deer as quickly as possible at all cost.....watching a spine shot play out is not gonna be fun for you or the deer

I spines a doe just last night. Hit the ground like a sack of crap, making all kinds of noise. Couldn't get a good shot from my stand, so I got down and put another one in her.

I don't know why you wouldn't just shoot it again versus cutting the throat...

The Jewish and Muslim traditions require the slaughtering of animals in this way. If done properly, it is relatively painless and the animals expire quickly. As a bonus, most of the blood is drained from the meat. Sliting the artery in the neck is a better term.

Spined a doe last year. Shot her at 40 yards and put the arrow between two trees. The arrow clipped a tiny branch sticking out of one of the trees and changed direction and hit the spine. As soon as she hit the dirt I nocked another arrow and ran 10 yards to my left for a better shot and put her out. I was still hunting on the ground so was able to just move just enough and quick enough to get that second arrow off and so she wouldn't suffer any longer.

Agreed my first deer was accidentally spined and we cut the throat as fast as we could so she wouldn't suffer. Mine was with a crossbow and I didn't know that on this specific scope the main crosshair was a 20 and 30 yard crosshair. I ranged her for 30, put the second pin down on her lungs and let fly. Honest mistake but I felt horrible that she started thrashing around and grunting.
But that's the best way! Cut the throat they will pass within a minute.

The cop said he would stab it in the heart and when he did this thingnlet out a death scream from hell and scared the crap out of this cop to the point he fell from back peddling! Funniest thing ive ever seen in my life. Now when I see him down the kids football or baseball field I always yell merrrrrrrrrrrrrr it always gets him laughing lol
