I was set up along a bean field tonight and had a bunch of deer come out just before dark out of range. I sat thinking they would slowly feed away and allow me to climb down because it was too dark to even risk taking a shot if the opportunity presented itself. I sat well over 45 minutes in the dark and deer still funneled out into the field. An hour went by and finally I climbed down sending tails flying. Seems like this issue occurs a lot and I was just wondering how any of you cope with this issue
i don't worry about it too much after dark. In my experience busting deer after dark aint as big of a deal as during the day.
Best case scenario is to have someone drive into the field to spook them off, I've also heard of people placing a coyote call in the brush away from them and turning it on when they are ready to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This... If you can call and have a buddy drive in a blow them out is a great way to enter and exit stand sites. Before my boys were in college I did this very thing here at the farm.
I have someone drive into the field and all the way to my tree if I'm hunting over a field or food plot. I would much rather them clear the field from the noise of the truck than blowing and alerting every deer in the county from trying to sneak out.
I usually carry a coyote call with me. I've also been known to use a coyote call app on my cell phone. It hasn't always been that effective though.
