I was thinking the other day about talents that people are born with (natural ability we'll call it for discussion sake). There's certainly a few I wish I was born with, or at least given a foundation to be able to build on to become GREAT. While this may seem odd, I really wish I could sing. I taught myself to play guitar back in high school, and I wasn't bad. I don't have a single musical lesson under my belt and nobody in my family is musically gifted. I always thought I would have stuck playing the guitar more if I could also sing. Granted this isn't the only ability I wish I was born with, but it's one that sticks with me. How about you?
I wonder about this too.its like what do you consider a talent.I feal extremely blessed with the talents I possess. But if I could have one extra It wouldbe to be a mathematician im am a college student and math is my Achilles heel so yeah I would want that talent Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
I wish I could have a natural ability to play the banjo... hehe... I know... but I love the banjo. I tried it when I was younger.... Just couldn't get the hang of it.
I wish I had the naturally toned build. I work my *** off to lose weight and hit the weight rooms, while my roommates eat Papa Johns daily and so long as they join me at the gym, they stay in great looking shape. It's just my families lineage though. My moms side of the family is a 6'4" grandpa, 6'6" 6'5" and 6'3" uncles, a 6'8" cousin all big square guys and I'm the runt at 6'2-3ish" lol.... I'm naturally strong, but weight room weak. Most of my friends are the polar opposite (can bench press double their weight but cant go up 3 flights of stairs with a couch without regripping 7 times lol).
Wish I was better with my hands. Perfect example, I traded my boat for another for a few reasons. Was a good trade and im happy with what I got, but this boat isn't set up. Need my depth finders mounted, trolling motor mounted, and need to build a new livewell for it because the ones on this are way to small for bass tournaments. To many, that doesn't sound like much. But to me, its a headache! I have to wait another 3+ weeks, for my best friend to be available to help me with this project. If things dont go 100% smooth, I get flustered and just can't think right. I hate it, drives me nuts. I try to get into working on things, house projects or cars or whatever, you know, manly things lol. But they drive me crazy! I wish they didnt.
I wish I was better at home projects and general carpentry, etc. While I pick it up quickly when exposed to it, I've had limited exposure. I tend to learn from watching youtube videos, internet research, etc. I see awesome stuff that guys like MGH_PA and buckeye build, and know I could do a lot of that stuff.......but have never had exposure to know the right/wrong way to do a lot of it. All of my home projects have turned out really well, but it takes me longer than it should and I have to do a ton of research to figure out the right way to do things.
My brother and sister were top off their class and it came easy for them. My other two sisters were A students. My kids are at the top of their class and it comes easy for them. I had to struggle to stay on the B honor roll, sucked at physics, calc and etc. I wish I was intelligent like them. Life would have been easier and I could have provided better for my family to get the most enjoyment out of life. I will work until I die. Retirement is a coffin. I envy you geniuses. Tim
Absolutely you could. I 100% could not build what I can (and believe me, I'm not at Buckeye's level:D), without my dad. He's built a lot of things all through his life, and many of which I was taught a thing here or there along the way. Even then, I'm still SUPER slow when I do a build all or mostly on my own (my bathroom, for instance, was done about 85% me/15% with my dad).
If there's a natural talent I wish I had it would have to be painting. Not sure why but I really wish I had the ability to sketch or paint images really well. I've had friends that were phenomenal artists both drawing and painting and they amaze me. I know a lot of art is perception and all but I have trouble drawing stick figures. :D
Seriously though, and this is maybe not so much a talent, but PATIENCE. I wish I naturally had more of it. When it comes to hunting I have all the patience in the world!! Daily life however, not so much! I often have to make a concious effort to not kill people on a daily basis all due to lack of patience.
I just want to be smarter. I consider myself to have above average intelligence, but I would like to have an exceptional mind. I love reading and listening to extremely intelligent people, and I can't help but wonder what it would be like to be inside their mind.
