So this morning I showed my boss the picture of the coyote I got on my MPE5 … he asked me if they can be hunted and I told him they could and that I was looking to have one mounted and put on the beam in my family room.

He then asked if I am going to eat it … I said, “Um, No” He asked why not and I said “cuz you don’t eat coyote, I can give you the meat” His eyes lit up and he said he would love it …LOL

So, have any of you eaten anything that others would consider taboo???

You wouldn't ever catch me eating coyote!

Some people think eating squirrels is out of this world but I've had plenty of those little suckers. :) I'm also a fan of frog legs and snapping turtles too. I've had raccoon, bear, deer, elk, rabbit, turkey, wild hog but nothing really "out there" I guess. There's always going to be someone that thinks eating ANY wild game is taboo.

I just finished 'Meateater' and he talked about eating mountain lion, that seemed strange to me but I'd probably try it. Good luck on the 'yote!

I hate that expression myself but I'm gonna have to say it tasted like greasy chicken. :) I liked it though. It was at a wildgame dinner that I went to a few years back.

When I still had my coon dogs, I would bring the meat back for my dad. I always thought it was ok, but nothing great. I would compare it to a greasy, gamey, roast beef when it was cooked in a crock pot.

My dad and uncle have ate almost everything. It's hard to catch them on something wild they didn't try to fry up at least once when they were younger.

I've had Beaver and Swan amongst many other normal wild game meats.

Porcupine, muskrat, Beluga whale. All pretty good actually. The whale was in a kind of teriyaki stir fry, tasted like fishy beef

Caribou is about as out of the ordinary as I have eaten. It's very good.

Groundhog, snake, tons of squirrels (classify this as normal personally) and wouldn't hesitate to eat anything if I had to or if presented the chance.

To me coon tastes alot like bear, and I agree with Trevor I think Mt. Lion is possibly some of the finest eats around, certainly as far as a predator is concerned.

There's a small town near where I grew called Newberry. Every year on the first Saturday in February they have Beaver Fest at the local bar. It is a smorgasbord of weird things to eat. It is basically whatever the locals were able to kill and grill.

I've only been once, but I had beaver chili, beaver creole, smoked goose breast, BBQ groundhog and some kind of testicles, which I believe came from a squirrel.

Everything was good, but the groundhog was a little gamey if you had a piece without much BBQ sauce on it.

I was too drunk to give you an honest answer...

It wasn't bad, but we smoked it whole with our homemade BBQ sauce next to a fawn to experiment. While the fawn was more tender, there wasn't a huge huge difference.

Ditto on both counts. Bear is really chewy.
