Balls ugly??? Ever been to the hill country to the south or Palo Duro canyon close to the panhandle. Texas has some of the most diverse terrian that there is. I agree that the East Texas pine swamps is the ugliest thing I have experienced, but for the most part I thought the rest of the state was quite nice. I agree that most of the natives are very loyal to their state. Is that something negative, though? The economy is booming and I don't think it ever dropped off. If you can't find a job down there then you just flat out didn't want to work. I had endless job opportunities and chose to stay with my current company. As far as hunting goes...you can hunt year around. I payed a 1,000 bucks for my share of the lease and it included a three bedroom cabin with running water and electricity. I agree that it has the least ammount of public land of any state I know of, but public land sucks anyways.:)

I've been to every corner of Texas. I've had to make the 10 hour drive across the state 6 times in the past 6 weeks. I know all that it has to offer. The hill country is ok. The desert mountains around Big Bend are nice. But the vast majority of Texas is indeed balls ugly.

This is what I think of when I think of the Deep South.

I don't even consider where I live in Va to be in the South. If you cut VA in half, I'm right on the line, counties along the NC / VA border and into SW VA I think of as southern, but not my home town.

It's actually quite annoying because a lot of my friends and those in my hometown boast themselves as "southerners" because it's apparently a cool thing to do. They stretch their accents to sound like the people they hear on CMT. Vito would hate where I live. Most of the time, I hate where I live.

MI is sort of an Eastern suburb of WI. It didn’t turn out very well so we installed a moat on our eastern border. We even named it after them so they wouldnt feel bad.

That may well have been top three if Jesse hadn't been elected governor back in the late 90s. I liked his attitude but he sure screwed up a few things. I still like MN though.

Toss in Georgia...hmph, you are now dead to me...:( How can you exclude Georgia from the list. Panama City, Florida borders the gulf, and that is not deep south.

No surprise. We're still buying votes with liquor in some parts of the state. But at least we have turtle man. No joke, super nice fella.
