Being a New England sports fan, we have Had it the best since the 2000, with 10 overall championships. It must suck so bad to be from Buffalo. Who has it worst? Pretty sure it's Atlanta, not trying to rub it in...serious question Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Minneapolis. The vikings have been above average but have come up painfully short. The Twins when they were good always got piss pounded by the Yankees. The Timberwolves have always sucked. The Wild same as the vikings. The only recent championships have come from the Lynx in the WNBA. The Gophers are a joke to compliment the failures of the professional teams. I think the failures of the local franchises have been magnified by the crappy weather of the winter, when football season ends is is dark cold and windy and depressing.
Yeah I know Minneapolis is right up there with one of the worst. Minneapolis sports, is how its like bowhunting in New England, occasional glimmers of hope. The Lynx winning the WNBA title, would be like me seeing a doe on the drive in to my public land spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
New England is a region, not a state much less a city. Exactly what teams constitute those 10 championships? Without googling; I'm guessing the Bs, Patriots and Red Sox? Maybe a Celtics ring in there? Chicago has to be in that "best city since 2000" discussion. Since 2005- 2 World Series, 3 Stanley Cups. 1 Super Bowl appearance (although quite possibly the worst Super Bowl team ever.) Worst? Hard to argue w/ Atlanta; but Atlanta also has THE worst sports fan base in the country. The Thrashers and Braves have never drawn even when they are decent. So nobody cares they suck.
Patriots five Super Bowl championships Red Sox, 3 Celtics one Bruins one Not counting appearances and losses in championship games. If you want to we can. Foxborough is less than 30 miles from Boston. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know there may be others that have had it worse for some time but Im gonna have to say my Miami Dolphins seemed to have a head up a butt ever since Big Dan left.
Atlanta is right up there. One championship in the 3 major sports in the city's history. The Braves should of won like 4 world series with Maddux, Smolts, AND Glavin. But really there are a lot of bad ones. San Diego, Cleveland (minus the cavs), Minnesota.
Yeah but as far as sports cities go (or regions) Marlins MLB WS in '03 Heat NBA champs in '06, 12, and 13 So Miami is eliminated from consideration.
Yeah San Diego was up there, Cleveland to, but they do have eight football championships. LOL I don't think anybody on here was alive for that though! I remember how bad the patriots were in the 80s and 90s growing up. I was a fan of coarse, and it sucked. I was 9 in 1986 when we played in the Super Bowl against the Bears. All I really remember was the Super Bowl shuffle, and William the refrigerator perry, and the patriots getting their butts kicked in. I was 19 in 1996 when we got destroyed by Green Bay. I grew up playing hockey, and of course was a big Bruins fan, cam Neely Ray Bourque, but no Stanley Cup. I remember Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier from the Oilers crushing that dream. My 16-year-old son only knows of the Patriots as champions. He will know of the misery in a few years LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cities that all should be given consideration. Milwaukee - Brewers and Bucks suck. Bucks won an NBA championship in the 70's. Brewers never. Only been close once Atlanta- goes without saying Minnesota - Nothing other than the twins a long time ago to speak of. San Diego - Chargers have never done anything. Padres have never done anything to memory. Buffalo Jacksonville I was going to put Detroit but then forgot some people actually factor hockey.
I would have to give my vote to San Diego, Hell they have now lost 3 professional teams to other cities.
Yeah if this was just an NFL discussion Detroit would be on the short list. Lucky for me hockey definitely counts. Milwaukee is too close to GB to be in consideration. Maybe we should limit the discussion to cities (or regions ) that have 3 major sports teams...Otherwise I'd definitely put Buffalo on the list.
No its not. At least in my eyes. 2 hours away doesn't cut it. And Milwaukee is a completely different type of a city than Green Bay. Two different areas of the state.
Thing is in Minnesota because of my age it is different for me. The Twins in 87 I was in college, 91 I just got married so I have got to see championships in Minnesota, then again I watched the North Stars lose two and they are gone so do those count?
Good question! Could we include the Minneapolis Lakers? They won some championships I think (heard from the radio anyways haha).
Would you rather your team go to multiple title games/series and lose them all, or never get to one at all?
