After the animals you chase on a daily basis, what ever it/they may be, what species do you wish to hunt the most? I have to admit I am a whitetail blowhard. I can't see myself leaving the whitetail woods with an open buck tag for ANY other animal.... But, if I had to choose another animal to hunt at least once, I think I would choose elk. You?
Come out here and buy a tag, Scott. I normally hunt whitetails, but after chasing Mulies this september I find it hard to stop thinking about them.
Whitetails all day baby:d . Hmm if I could bowhunt whitetails, I guess I'd love to go after pronghorn with one.
Elk far and away outdo anything for me. Yes I have already hunted them, but there is no other animal out there that I anticipate hunting for as much as elk. I hope to hunt them on a regular basis for as long as I am physically able to. After them, critters that I've never hunted for, you could toss in moose, bear, caribou, pronghorn & mulies at the next level that are on the list, but none really stand out above the others.
Moose or Brown Bear. If it were moose, it would have to be Alaska, The Yukon or B.C. Have hunted elk, but have not killed one yet....they are also a blast.
Another Elk hunt would be #1 on my list too. And the bow seasons out West are early enough to be back home for almost all of Deer season. After that, bowfishing for flying Asian Carp off the back of a boat looks like it would be a blast.:d
id hafta say a grizz. or maaybe bull moose. now if we dnt hafta limit it to bowhunting, id love to tackle a nice hog with a knife
I'm currently working on my first black bear, however it won't be with a bow. I'll be back at it next weekend. Other than the whitetails and turkeys that I hunt already, I'd love to experience one hunt each for Moose, Caribou, and Elk, in no particular order. I'd only do those types of hunts with a bow. I'd love to do these in AK as well, I've always wanted to see Alaska with a bow in my hand.
Whitetail are really the only animal I wish to pursue. I just want to pursue them in different places across the country.
Good food for thought. I grew up hunting whitetails with a bow in Iowa. Now I live out West. I have hunted elk a few times (when I can get a tag!) and they are crazy fun! There is something about the higher level of interaction with elk that really trips my trigger. The calling, listening, hiking massive, gorgeous country and just the clean, crisp air does wonders for my hunting soul! Although whitetails are still my all time favorite I would have to say that elk are always on my "wish" list.
I actually want to pursue pretty much every North American big game animal. With exceptions being Coues and Walrus. But I'm like the rest of you, I am in love with whitetails.
I would have to say Elk as of right now.Until I have experienced hunting all game everywhere I really cant pick a number one.
Bear and whitetail's are top priority but If I could go on an out of state hunt every year for something else It would be elk by a long shot!! So far It's a tough call on what excites more, 300+lb bear or a big 6x6 elk screaming 30 yards away from me? I've been In both scenario's, I haven't gotten an elk yet but I have scored on a good share of bear.
Ever since I picked up a bow, I have thought about taking a grizzly with it. I, as the rest of you, have one hell of a whitetail fix and if I could only choose one, I definitely wouldn't be changing, but I just can't imagine it getting any more exciting than killing a grizzly with a bow. It's definitely on my list as soon as I win the lottery or somehow stumble across 15 grand LoL.
