Hey guys. I'm shooting 60 pounds with a draw length of 30 inches. I shoot 55/75 goldtip carbons. What is the size grain that is recommended and why? Is it a calculation or a preference? I like fixed broadheads if thats any help.:nana:

its really preference. i would say 100 grain or above. if your looking for kinetic energy then 125 or heavier. and most fixed heads all come in these grains

well, a person would have more success on pass throughs, the arrow will penetrate deeper, but you will lose some speed. the whole thing for kinetic energy is really all down to penetration, which of in case a shoulder shot, you may break through bone and have a kill rather than a wounded animal. but again its all up to you. im more of a speed freak, but still shot heavier arrows

It packs a harder punch basically. It will slow your arrow down some but the more kinetic energy usually the better. I use 100 grain but if I go on an elk hunt next year I'll probably shoot 125 for the little extra punch.

I have muzzy 130's that haven't been used. If I use these for whitetail, will they be too big or is that something I shouldn't worry about?
