PT sorry to hear about that…I too would much rather be reading your success story. God allowed that buck to walk into and walk out of your life that day for some reason only He knows. He's sovereign over everything, including hunting. We can have the best equipment, newest scent free camo, fastest bows, best tree stands…whatever the case, but if the good Lord's intention is for you not to harvest a particular buck on a particular day it's not going to happen. All you can do is learn from this hunt and use it to turn your worst case scenario into your best. But always remember…and I know you will…praise God from who all blessings flow…including shooting big bucks! Keep looking up brother and I can't wait to read a BBD post from you this November!
Get back out there Tony. I fell off a horse once.....(you already know where this is going). Good Luck to ya.
Heat check. Get back out there in the AM. People miss all the time. If he didnt see or smell you...he could be back tomorrow AM. The last thing I would do is sit on the couch.
That's tough man. You might just get another shot at him. The rut is coming and bucks will be acting real stupid. He might not come to that area during legal hours or if he does, he probably will stare the stand down and pick you out. At least you know you didn't kill him and can't find it. Try and practice more with your glasses on or try finding a substitute to you glasses. I think those goggles that Todd has would be a good idea.
Awwwwwwww mannnnnnnnn........... PT. I feel for you tonight. Those are hard to think about. But you will. And it will bother you for a bit. And then you will get back out there and you will shoot and kill again. And all will be right with the world again. Stay thirsty for blood my friend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Big deal.....reflect on anything you can learn from and get over it.....it happens to everyone once in a while. If you're not using a rangefinder I'd consider getting one....could be he was closer or you were shooting at a steeper angle than you thought. Good luck! (I lost a 180"+ deer once to a mechanical so yeah I know how frustrating it is)
Happened to me too on a stud of an eight pointer. I think in the moment I didn't look through my peep. Skimmed over the back, cutting hair. It's crushing, but you have to get out there and try again. I hope you get him next time. Best of luck, and chalk it up to the process of you becoming even better than you were.
Get out there in he morning and get one for it, or you could stare at it all day tomorrow. I know which one I'd choose.
Can't....wrong wind and heavy rain tomorrow ...Friday high wind warning....Saturday and Sunday I will be 15 miles away where that rub is.....Monday and Tuesday I will sit there all day if the wind is right....
You will remember it for a long time. Last year I stuck one quartering away at 17 yards and my arrow only penetrated about 3 inches. I seen it run off full speed and kept going and going. Second biggest buck I've ever seen while hunting. You'll remember it forever, live and learn, all you can do.
Like many have said get back out there. He will avoid that area for a little while but he will be back. Move a couple hundred yards away and set up shop. He will show himself. Sorry bro
Damn! I really really feel for you Tony. I can't think of anyone else that I'd rather see posing behind a dandy buck then you. A day or 2 away may not be such a bad thing. Its early enough yet where he won't be looking for doe's in the next county yet. He'll still be around. Get back in the driver seat my friend. Keep me posted. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk
Dark brother, you mentioned you were waiting with bow in hand for 30 minutes. Arms get tired and for $10, this is one of the best pieces of equipment I've bought in the last few years. Pick one up if you don't have one already. Shoot a few arrows at a target, reassure your confidence and back at it. I've never missed so I can't relate to your story though
Even though it would have meant me losing my bet with you, I wish you'd have gotten him, Tony. I truly do. Like a lot of others have already said, and like I told you on the phone, get back out there as soon as you can. You still have a good chance at him. On a side note: It's been said that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Well, you took it to the extreme but..... I'm flattered. :D Hang tough, brother!
Sorry to hear that brother. Keep your head up. I think he'll give you another shot opportunity. Just be ready sent from old school can and string
Oh what a drag T, don't let it get you down man. That buck is fired up right now, chances are he has no idea what happened, and he's still over there. He may hunker down during that bad weather coming, and be waiting for ya on Monday. Better luck out there Brother!
I did the exact same thing but low so don't feel bad... I am still in shock and can't believed I missed. An trust me, I missed no little deer either and that doesn't help the fact... All you can do is keep trying!
