I'm thinking about trying out a back tension release starting after this season. What are the pros and cons of shooting a traditional release compared with some of the newer thumb type back tension releases?
Im switching over to a thumb trigger for hunting/target. Ive shot back tension and cant get used to it, but with a thumb trigger, i wrap my thumb around the trigger and then pull my middle and ring finger back like a back tension release which then sets off the trigger against my thumb. Its the best of both worlds, especially for outdoor shooting when wind would make a back tension hard to use. Im getting a Scott Exxus tomorrow
I been shooting the Exxus for a couple months now, it a nice little release. I keep switching back and forth between it and Hot Shot Stan Potts...
I'm currently shooting the Spott Hogg Wiseguy for hunting and the hardcore 4 finger for 3d/indoor range shooting I love them both.
Carter rx1 http://www.carterenterprises.com/releases/index-finger-trigger/rx1-a-rx2 A back tension isn't designed for hunting and I would advise against it. A thumb style is fine and many prefer them for hunting but I prefer a wrist strap and trigger release. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I haven't so far. Always seems to stay put for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk www.skyangler.com
I shoot the Scott Archery Longhorn Hex for target and hunting. Just made the switch this year, I've shot 3 deer with it this year. So far, no problems. Don't know what all the pros and cons are but you aren't going to punch the trigger with it. While practicing you have a side that allows you to know just when the release is getting ready to go off as it clicks (this can be adjusted to not do this). Cons I can only say it does produce some noise but I put foam padding down where the metal was touching each other and shaved off excess. It works great
