I believe so. That or the f-15. The f-16 is a smaller aircraft according to my book here. I don't have the movie to reference from..... oh wait. YouTube. Be back in a few.

Tom Cruise's plane was the F-14 E other planes used in the movie The "MIG-28" from Top Gun was an F-5. It had 2 engines in the movie, not 1 engine like the F-20 tigershark.

And Apparently, you can buy like ex-soviet union Fighter Jets (Obviously they don't have any armament anymore) I was watching Pawn Stars on History Channel, and this dude was trying to sell his Soviet Fighter Jet for 200,000$ and it was a straight up, fighter jet, had the mounts for the missiles and bombs still, and you could see inside the cockpit it still had the buttons for launching missiles/bombs and firing auto-cannons and what not.

And they were talking on the show about how if you have the money you can buy old Soviet Tanks and Aircraft, Helicopters, Weapons, etc etc, pretty much anything, and as long as the Tanks, APC's, Jets, Helicopters, etc etc, are not equipped with weapons or guidance systems,

Tom Cruise – this successful actor owns luxurious airplanes like his $100,000 Aviat – Pitts S-2B, a $1.2 million Beech F90 and a $28 million-plus Gulfstream IV jet.

    Trivia....

Harrison Ford – Another well-known aviation enthusiast, Harrison Ford owns eight planes several planes which include De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver , Cessna – 525 and Aviat – A-1B. Harrison Ford’s De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver is a former US military model restored by Kenmore Air.

John Travolta – Mr. Travolta acquired his customized Boeing 707 as part of a Qantas promotion; as an honorary pilot of the company, he personally flew the Australian soccer team to Germany for the 2006 World Cup. His 707 is registered under “Jett Clipper Johnny LLC.” He also owns a Grumman – G-1159 and a Beech – V35B

Jim Carrey – Owns a private jet aircraft, Gulfstream V, with tail number N162JC. Jim Carrey enjoys his private jet, but he also leases his Gulfstream V, which he purchased in 2001, for $8,000 an hour.

    The thread was answered so...

I was playing around one day, you can also buy a used soviet helicopter. The kind used during their war with afganistan.
You can even get a night vision add on. They'll also deliver and give you flying lessons.

The question has already been answered but yes it is. It is by far my favorite jet fighter so far. The days of dog fights are probably over and there will probably never be another jet that has the versatility and maneuverability of the Tom Cat! Swept wings for speed and the wings came out for super tight maneuvers. To bad the military retired it. That and the SR71 Blackbird. Two impressive machines.

Well, they came out with better fighters that are almost impossible to knock out of the air from the ground. And as far as the Blackbird..... hell, we have 24 hour surveillence with our satellites now. Who needs a blackbird. ONE THING they haven't been able to replace is the OD camo guy on the ground with a rifle in his hand.

Look up some vids of Russian Su27s and Su 35s. Those things are ridiculous. Way more maneuverable than most of the US fighters have ever thought about being. We're lucky they could never make enough of them and they don't have the electronics we have. Also as far as American planes go look up the F22 and if you want a plane from the F14 era look at F-15s. Also seen some FA18s do some things the Tomcat wouldn't dream of. Against those other planes with equal pilots it wouldn't stand a chance. Not because its a bad fighter (Its my favorite too). Those are just on another level. Its amazing what they can make those planes do.

Planes don't make the pilot. Pilots make the planes bad azzes! If you look the Israelis attack on Iraq Nuclear facility, what they accomplished with a hand full of jet fighters is awesome.

The F-15E Strike Eagle is the only US plane to fly into combat and never taken a hit, from an surface to air or air to air missile in battle. Being ex Navy I've seen plenty of planes launched from carriers. USS Ranger, USS Midway, USS Carl Vinson, USS Saratoga, USS America, and none were more awesome is watching an F-14 flying low to the deck and breaking the sound barrier it's almost as if the Jet partially vanishes.

And the most scariest Plane I've ever seen is the SR-71. Once on a port visit in Okinawa Japan there I seen one come in for a landing at the Airforce Base there That plane looked like a giant rectangle UFO. :alien:

I honest almost screamed. :jaw: Luckily it dawned on me what i was looking at or it could have became really embarrassing. :D

Damn I miss being out to sea.:(

I agree with you on the pilots bit. Thats why I threw the equal pilots thing in there. I was mainly just saying those other planes have more capability with a competent pilot. A good pilot is must have.

I did Aircraft Maintenance for 25 Years and have worked on an F-86 and a couple Migs that had been purchased by private collectors for airshows. Pretty cool job most of the time until I got old and became visually handicapped.
