I don't and probably wont carry concealed here due to barrel size. You can't have anything less than a 6" barrel on your person while hunting period. If you are caught you can be charged. To me a 6" barrel isn't something I want to be toting around the woods on my side or where ever. Now, for concealed carry I don't carry yet but, plan on Jess and I getting our permits in the next year or so. I personally do not think there is anything more reliable and more compact than a .357 revolver. Honestly, if you need more than 6 .357 hollow points to defend yourself, you probably need more help than one gun is going to provide. I am looking at getting us both either a Taurus 605 DT or a Rossi 462 either chambered in .357 should do just fine.
My husband usually carries a CZ70 in .32ACP, sometimes a CZ75 in 9mm. Now that I'm old enough for a CPL I carry a Ladysmith in .357 magnum. However, when we are on the U.P. where there are bears, he carries a CZ97 in .45 ACP. If you have a CPL here, you can carry a handgun while bowhunting. (The CZ70 is an antique.)
I have a walther p22...mainly just carry it with rat shot for crawling critters. Idk maybe im nieve about it??
I might add that I have been carrying either my 9mm or .38 more lately. The .357 is a tad heavy. We have bears and other nasties, but the only thing I’m worried about are the two legged critters who have been up for days tweaking. I like the capacity of the 9. Got a 3ft copper head with it this past fall
A 40 caliber Glock 22C. It is big enough to put the fear in anything I would need to shoot at here. 15 rd clips to put a lot of lead down range fast. Tim
Springfield 1911A-1. Not that hard to conceal, accurate, and has enough punch to slow down or stop just about anything here in the south east. And since I only open carry,it's easier to draw.Plus the women folk tend to like nice walnut grips.
