I shot my first 3-D tourny this past weekend at the ASA shoot in Metropolis, Illinois. Coming into the weekend, I had switched out my .029 pins for .019's. I'm thinking about even going to bit lower now on my 30, 40, and 50 pins and rigging them with .010's, but leaving 20 at .019.

    What is everyone else shooting?

When I was a serious pin shooter and younger, I was shooting all .010's. Now my eyes can't quite pick them up as I'd like. If I were to setup a bow for serious pins class 3D, I'd probably shoot all .019's.

Keep in mind, IBO requires all pins to be the same diameter, not sure if ASA does the same thing. You can actually cheat using different diameter pins. ;)

I shoot .019 on my G5 Optix XR sight. I like them but I too am thinking about changing them out for a .010 pin. I believe this will help my accuracy on shots over 30 yards.

Just like in a rifle scope, the more fine the reticle (or pin in this case), the more accurately you can place the sight for the shot. The downside is the smaller pins are harder to see in low light situations, even on higher end sights like the Axcel Armortech HD.

I shoot all .010 pins, I would like to have a .019 pin for shots twenty yards and in for hunting purposes only. However, if I was strictly shooting 3D and had to have all pins the same size...I'm going with .010. If my vision is an issue I'll get some low script glasses just to get that pin nice and fine...which I did.

Good point. I will definantly check that out. I won't be shooting another ASA until next year anyways.
