What new hunting knife under $50? Also what knife sharpening system?

    Probably not what you are looking for but check out Havalon knives. Super sharp and you don't need to resharpen, just change out the blade.

    I use a cheap Gerber Gator folder and I'm a fan. Carbon steel blade that sharpens nice, and most importantly for me, no gut hook!

    I got stuck by a gut hook on a Buck knife dressing a deer when I was 15. Damn near cut my thumb off! 2 reconstructive surgeries later to reattach tendons, and I still have a tough time moving it in the cold. No gut hook for me.

    I use a browning folder. It has a blade, a gut hook and a bone saw. Its a tad thicker than a cheaper Gerber folder (Have one of those too for everyday carry, I love it)
    Gut hooks are just for convenience, and you can do the same with a sharp blade, but I still like to use it.

    Very nice! Currently, I just use a sharpening stone with cutting oil. Works okay, but I'm not good at consistent angles.

    I like my Buck Omni Hunter 10pt. Sharp as a razor.
