Just reading the other thread by VA and I really wonder what makes you think you are hardcore? Make a list. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Etc....
To consider yourself more hardcore, means that something about you is different than the fellas in your circle. He's asking for you to list those qualities/actions you posses or do that make you more hardcore. Its really not that different.
Ok here goes 1. hunt more 2. hunt harder and smarter 3. shoot more often 4. kill more deer 5. kill/killed bigger deer so far 6. understand whitetails far more than they do 7. see more deer 8. really try very hard to learn about archery and tech stuff, they could care less. 9.make sure I can find and obtain the best property for holding deer and big bucks that I can 10. Im a member of BOWHUNTING.COM!!!
Landon, your #10 is honestly a VERY BIG thing. I can tell you that HNI and now this site has given me an all around better understanding about many of things related to animals.
You can always tell the ones who really are hardcore. They are usually the ones who don't respond to these questions. Bwahahahahahaha:D No, seriously, I thought it was a simple question. "What makes you think you are Hardcore?" Not, "in your circle". Just in general. Anyone can be Hardcore in a small area. I'm talking Hardcore with the most Hardcore out there.
1. I'm willing to put forth the effort to learn about my prey. Too many hunters I know actually know very little about deer and their behavior. I don't know everything there is to know by a long shot, however I continue to gain an education.
"4. When I hunt farm land I roll around in hog **** for cover scent." Jeff's land is technically farm land. As people from Missouri say, "SHOW ME".
Ok, now that the senseless babble is out of the way, will someone be "honest" about why they think they are Hardcore. No harm in bragging on this. (if you think you are Hardcore) I mean, lots of folks here will brag on a good buck. Why not brag on yourself and what you do to get him? Contrary to "some" popular beliefs, there is no catch to the thread. Just a really simple question that some are embarrassed to answer for fear their peers will laugh at them. That's weird, I thought that is what friends were for.:D
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight .. This thread is the PERFECT set-up ... playing to one's pride ...... anyway, when i see the extent that some guys on here go .... I am NOT hardcore .... at least with hunting .... I am, however a harcore follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, but as you know, Bobby ... this is really HIM working in me, "for it is Christ which worketh in you, both to will and do of His good pleasure" ... it's not all of my own volition ...
To me, Hardcore is: 1. Someone that uses archery equipment regardless of what season is in. 2. Someone who spends an above average amount of time scouting and shed hunting in the off season. 3. Someone who continously strives to find smart ways to kill deer. 4. Almost a given with all the hardcore guys I know, they kill bigger deer more consistently than most.
I'm sure there is no "catch" to the thread and i'll assume your just trying to learn more which is a good thing. I think the truth is you will find that most on the boards fall into1 of 2 catagories, hardcore or trying to learn to be. Why else would we visit a hunting board in sa June when the active season is Months away? We are all striving to be better at our passion for archery hunting. But for one to declare their hardcorishness is like comparing who makes love the best, it all depends on who is being satisfied.
1. I drink doe-in-heat just to prove something to myself. 2. Poison sumac is my best friend. 3. I like climbing "spike trees" just to make myself bleed. 4. I cross rivers, just to re-cross to the side I was just at. 5. I name my ticks. 6. I have scars in all the wrong places. 7. My friend is Dallas Ft. Worth - the king of hardcore.
OK I will use the list like the poster asked for :D 1. Eat,sleep, dream, and breath whitetails! 2. Won't go out if I don't have time to shower B4 hunt 3.Go to great lengths to minimize my scent 4.Hunt hard and scout smart 5.Read every artcle related to hunting whitetails or just deer hunting in general. 6. Keep up with all the gadgets and do extensive research on each product 7. Practice every chance I get 8.Learned how to use topos and google earth to my advantage as best as I can 9. Where all the T-shirts and hats that have anything related to hunting just to make a statement year round....don't care what people think! 10. Bought a bobblehead-rubbing buck for my dash and stickers for the windows. And to sum it up for ya I just about ended up in a divorce over bowhunting......what does that tell ya:D OK I'm done
Good post DC. Excellent point Gr8 Todd, you my friend are the most Hardcorish of all the Hardcorishness I have ever seen try to be Hardcorish.:D bowtechdude, you are well on your way to being "Hardcore".
Let me say this....I said I was the most hardcore in MY circle...surely not on here or in other circles....
