Just gather up som leaves in a bag find a clearing set them on fire and stand in the smoke turn around no need to take a shower twice a day when doing it this way when a freind told me about it I thought it was a joke but that morning he killed a 173" 13 point and I got busted by a 12 trying to turn and draw my bow back.Have done it every sense if I can.Otherwise I do the showers and soaps and sprays and don't get dressed till I get to my spot I even was bed sheets for my truck seats they both work.

wash all my clothes in baking soda about once a week, keep them in a tote with couple boxes of baking soda. Then spray down before i dress, especially my boots and lower pants, then spray down a little more when i get to my stand. And i only hunt on the right wind. The wind is the key to success

I believe in the baking soda theory, although I've never tried it, I also think some foilage in the bottom of the tote you keep your cloths in is a great idea. I used to use sent eliminator that smeeled like the forest floor. I also spray my vehicle seat down a bit before I sit in it. I spray my stand and stand seats. I spray alot. I over do it. lol.

I think hunters who feel hunting the wind is enough, are lazy. Even with good wind, scent is deposited on foliage, then, when the wind changes, after u leave, deer will be educated. Also, working the wind is a great tactic, but, what if a deer approaches from down wind ?

Aside from becoming proficient with our weapons and scouting, scent elimination is one of the most important things for hunting, especially since we hunt the same locations multiple times.

I wash all if my gear in scent free soap and baking soda. I store them in sealed rubbermaid drawers and in a scent lok zipper closet. I never touch my gear without first washing my hands. I run ozone filters in the areas where my gear is stored, and, in my vehicle. I get dressed when I get to my properties, and, change again before I leave. Also, I always shower with scent free soap and brush my teeth with baking soda before each hunt.

When I spray down, u use dead down wind products. I almost always wear a complete scent blocker system, which is extremely important to me. I had a mature 8 come in to 6 yards of me while I was hunting a ground bljnd this year on not so great wind, and, he never once spooked. I spend a lot if time I. The field abd believe that my scent elimination system coupled with scent blocker products, truly works. We will never hide all of our odoe, but, limiting it as best we can may mean the difference between tagging out and waking out empty handed.

Then it will smell you most likely, regardless what silly sprays/clothing brands a hunter uses.

I'm not saying they are useless (no one really knows), and heck I use them sometimes. But I strongly think it is for hunter's peace of mind rather than for a real life advantage over a deers nose. Most studies show that the sprays and scent suits do nothing to trick an animals nose, and dryers come no where near close enough to the temp needed to "reactivate" carbon.

I really feel like the scent control industry was built on superstitions and naivety of hunters rather than proven scientific data. And before I start WW3 here let me again remind you that I often use the products myself. It's a mental thing, same as camo for the most part.

As for deposited scents on foliage, I think my boots leave scent whether I spray them or not...I accept it. I don't feel like by not rubbing baking soda on my teeth and washing my clothes every single hunt that I am depositing any more scent onto the ground or in the area than if I didn't. Humans produce a scent that animals can smell....end of story.

I use scent away laundry detergent, then air dry outside or airdry in my dryer with fresh earth dryer sheets, then spray UV killer, let dry again, then place in my scent lock tub with fresh earth wafers.

I had a reflection last night about cover scent methods, all the while discussing this matter with a buddy. I spoke of some of the threads on BH.com and how many suggestions on cover scents there were. He stated that he always washes his cloth in regular detergents then through them in the dryer and has never had any issues. I said really??? You’ve never sat in your stand and not see deer??? Because I know I have plenty of times, and I had always used the dryer for drying my cloth, which I learned not to do from this web site. I’ve sat numerous days in stands and never seen a single deer. I truly believe that it is because I was doing something wrong.
