I'm needing to get some scent block. Bow season is in 8 days (officially). What kind of scent block do you all use? I have never in my life used it before, so bare with me.

Edit: I also just learned from another thread not to walk deer paths. Thanks for that tip!

    I use Dead down Wind...

-First I wash my clothes in DDW detergent... whatever you use make sure it doesn't contain UV brighteners
-Hang dry them outside if you have time
-Store them in Scent free container... such as a rubbermaid tub with some foliage in the bottom for natural scent... or a giant zip-loc bag

-Wash yourself in some sort of scent eliminating or scent free soap, shampoo, etc.
    -Same goes for deoderant

-Wear your base layers or different clothes all together until you arrive at your hunting destination... You don't want to drive in your "scent free" clothes to your spot with a left over McDonalds bag in the back seat. (I actually spray my vehicle down with scent killer also)
-After you arrive and dress to hunt, spray down with field Spray... take it with you if you have a long walk.. spray down again when you arrive and settle into your stand.

This is what I try to do... Some people are so anal they put there wallet in a ziploc bag and such... the sky is the limit. One thing I actually used to laugh about is Gum-o-Flauge... I actually may use it this year... Your breathe puts out a huge amount of scent.

Does all of this work... who knows.. but I think it does... and it sure boosts your confidence.

And most importantly... Play the wind.

Pretty much my routine to the T. I use all Dead Down Wind products as well...no reason for it, but I have confidence in the brand. I also use their field mouth spray. Kind of a very light wintergreen flavor, but Im planning on trying the gum this year also.

Try finding the vacuum space saver bags at your local discount mart... Deals, Big lots, Ollies are the ones around me. They are airtight and can have the air vacuumed out to save space when not in constant use. seems to be working well for me

I wash all of my clothes in Sportwash, then, once dry, I douse all of them with baking soda and store in air tight totes. I shower in the AM before a hunt with Scent Away soaps and use Scent Away sprays on my clothing before leaving the truck.

    Thats about it.

I wash my camo with scent-a-way detergent and use scent-a-way spray, but do not use any carbon clothing anymore.

Hunt based on wind direction and you'll be fine. I use scent-away or scent killer soap and wash my clothes in baking soda. I'm cheap. So whatever is on sale.

My dad found a home made recipe in a magazine a few years ago and we have been using that since. It works well. I've had deer stop and smell where I had walked but they never know what is it and just keep walking on as they were.

I think it has something to do with green tomatoes.

I use raccoon urine as a cover scent. I put it on boot pads and walk in, When I get to my stand I hang one about 4 feet off the ground, spray it again and climb. I have had deer walk on top of my footsteps and not sent me.

Wash them in baking soda, let them hang outside for a couple days, then put them in a plastic tote and dump baking soda on them. Before a head to the stand I spray down with scent away. Really it's a lot easier to just hunt the wind
