It's been 25 or so years ago but back when I was 10 or 11 or somewhere around there I joined up for Taekwondo lessons. I did this for about 5 years and I finished with a brown belt. The week before I was to be tested for a black belt the class got shut down due to lack of Interest. Bummed I was. :( I also took some Ninjitsu lessons during the same time but didn't pursue them very far. The stretchability a person gets out of this stuff Is unbelievable!! I never knew I could stretch as much as I did. I really should get back Into this for that reason alone.

I have taken martial arts throughout my life...as a young kid I took some hardcore Karate, you know the kind where they have you hitting hard stuff and getting beaten. :) I loved it.

As a young kid through my early teens I took Tae Kwon Do--I did not get much out of it other than some bad habits.

In my early 20's to around 30 I took Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo,Thai Boxing, Sambo, and everything else under the sun. Best training I ever had and nothing else compares to an ecletic mix of wrestling, brazilian jiu-jitus, thai boxing, and judo.

Then I had a family and family comes first, so now I just teach my kids the basics of self defense which includes: getting up off the ground, stance, how to strike, when to expect danger, and how to block strikes and stay tough if you get striked. I do this when I am playing with them, and they have been doing it for years.

Sounds like you have alot of knowledge in many areas virginiashadow!

I have always wanted to know more about self defense for ladies and what are some of the most effective and easy to learn techniques that a woman can use efficiently, cause effective and quickly.

Does your wife practice this or have you taught her some of these moves?
