I believe the bow is a Ben Pearson 12 GA Magnum. From what little I can remember they came out in the early-mid 1980's so she's got a few years on her. Looks to be in pretty good condition, although you may want a bow shop/technician to inspect the strings and cables just to be sure.

Looks to me like an old Ben Pearson 12 ga magnum from the early 1980's (looked at the sticker pic). I can't read much more on that pic since its pretty blurry. Being that it is a older bow. I would take it to a local pro shop and have them look it over. Have them check the integrity of the string and limbs. Other than that I don't know to much more about the bow(another reason to head to a proshop)

    Yes to both, Elyzabeth.

I've killed a lot of critters with a bow that wouldn't hardly shoot 200fps.

    You'll be fine.

That is a neat old bow, so long as it is given a safe bill of health, just have some fun shooting it.

Don't get me wrong I love older bows too. Here's the thing tho and the pro shop will probably tell you the same thing. Unless that bow has a good string on it and everything else is up to par adjustability wise your probably going to be into as much expense fixing that bow than you would be just getting into something new but that's your preference. I just got my boy a new bear apprentice 2 which is rated at 20-50 # so depending on what you can pull back. Right now they have some good prices on youth and woman bows but a lot of woman use youth so just a thought from me. Great gift overall shooting Older bows is quite the challenge compared to todays technology. Have fun and Welcome to the site
