I really like knives, so I have a few. I always carry my folding, 3.5" Emerson with me everywhere. I also have a Kershaw with a 4 " fixed blade and gut hook for most of my field dress work. I also carry a serrated K-Bar in my pack or on my belt. Then I carry a large, heavy bowie knife in my pack for busting through the sternum when field dressing a deer. I may quit carrying the heavy bowie knife though because my Kershaw is sharp enough that I can usually get through the sternum with that.
Buck Omni Hunter 10 Point w/a 3" folding blade. It is a good solid knife. I also use a folding sheetrock knife with a razor blade in it. It's not intended dressing animals, but it does an awesome job and you can just pop in a new blade when it gets dull.
I cut off the base of an antler, cut a notch, then placed a blade inside the antler thereby fashioning a cool little knife. I rapped part of the lower part of the blade with a strap of leather. I have carried that knife into the woods with me for the past 3-4 years.
This Buck (only mine has a gut hook) for the last 9 years, an older/smaller Buck before that, I still use it to butcher....
I usually have several in my pack but I always have these 3 at a minimum: -Benchmade Elishewitz titanium folder -Knives of Alaska Jaeger bird/boning knife -Kershaw Bear Hunter II
I've been carring a Crosslock Buck for several years now. Love the knife but I need to get a small stone or file to sharpen the gut hook. Any suggestions?
I use a camo folding buck knife that i've had since i was 12 for hunting. Everyday use i carry my "ken Onion" Kershaw.
