If you want economical look at a Jo-Jan or Grayling and get the right helical clamp. Those are good jigs. I have no personal experience with them but have seen them recommended by good guys.

My advice; buy a Bitzenberger fletcher, a norway stripper for removing wraps and fletches, Bohning Fletch tite platinum for your glue, and you are set.

I use the Jo Jan and love it, but I'm sure the Grayling is just as great an option. Good luck with it!

I also want to try this but honestly know very little. I heard the Arizona Ez fletch is a good easy one also? And my next question to keep things extremely simple my gold tip arrows I believe are straight, if I were to purchase a jig is do I have to put a helical on it? What would you do?

I've never used anything but the Jo-Jan and it's great. I bought the model that fletches 6 at a time and I've never had any issues with it. I understand that it's not the premium fletcher but it'll last my lifetime(all metal) and does an excellent job.

IMO, the Arizona EZ fletch is to limiting. A jig that uses clamps and is adjustable is so much more versatile.

You do not have to get a helical clamp, you can get a straight one.

I've used the Graying jig for 10+ years now, never a problem. I have a LW, RW and Straight clamp for under $50.00 and saved a ton more by fletching my own!

I use the bitzenburger and i love it. It is a little more $$$ but it does a great job. i just bought it this year and it has probably almost paid for itself buy fletching my own arrows and lots for other people. it a good way to make a couple extra bucks on the side.

I bought a Grayling years ago...

and took it back the next day. :) Applied the credit towards a Bitz and I've been happy ever since.

The Grayling I bought had way too much slop in it for my liking.

I agree and had the same problem. Now with the Bitzenburger it's very tight and when you do get glue on the jig (and I do cause I'm just a novice) it seems to be easier to get off. I mean you'll keep it for a very long time and I think it's worth the extra $$. BTW, that fletch tite platinum is awesome stuff.
