    As long as the growths don't affect the buck's ability to see, eat or more, he'll survive and just be gross looking. (tho' sometimes they do fall off)
    Since they are just on the skin, the deer is still otherwise healthy.

    It is possible that they could infect another deer because it is a virus.... but it's kind of like catching a wart from someone else, not real easy to do.
