What is wrong with the parents of HS athletes?

    I had a parent corner me when I coached the freshmen highschool team....he said "why isn't my son playing!". I told him because there were two better defensive ends on the team. He then countered and said he is going to the "commisioner" of the district and is going to let him know. I said "go ahead, this is highschool football now, there is no mandatory playing time and I will play who I see fit". If he would have approached me with the correct mentality I would have sat down and talked with him, in a civilized manner.

    There are alot of people who shouldn't coach, no doubt. In a small community, there aren't often alot of choices. I coached soccer one year because I was the only one who would volunteer. I didn't know the first thing about soccer, and I still don't. Leagues shouldn't fold up because of lazy parents, though.
