Why on earth is the Indiana turkey season sooooo late? It doesn't start until April 25th! I am no used to this, I grew up in North Carolina, and used to huntin turkeys in march! Gobblers are struttin in every field around here, and I cant hunt them for almost another month!!!

I feel your pain, I deal with this every year but this season is gonna be the worst. Spring came waaay early with the warm temps. I have tried to come up with why for years and still havent came up with an answer! We just start when most are finishing!

I think the birds will be done in two weeks with this weather, there's no reason we cant start when KY does

This is my first year hunting the big bird. Now is this year completely different than most? Are they strutting this early every year?

    Yeah it sucks!

There's a video I watched at Midwest Whitetail that this guy explains how this years late spring might not be so bad after all. Here's a link to the video if you want to here what he has to say- He starts at about 15:50

Breeding cycles are based on mostly the photoperiod with a little influence from weather patterns. It will be fine.

the peak of breeding season is supposed to be before season starts in ohio, i would assume that it wouldnt be much different in ohio. The ODNR does this so there is less competition with hens for the hunters.
