To me the first photo looks like a smaller deer. The second photo looks like a photo of a blurry small deer. I think you guys have been hitting the sauce to hard :d
Actually, more important is how deep is the snow. That way we can determine the animal size from there.
I'm in with you JM... no doubt. Small head, pointy ears, short face... hump in the shoulder blades. Check out the similarities here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/royce10/1911422977/
Scott, put the pipe down and walk away :d Here are a couple pictures from the camera for referance. I am pretty sure we don't have any newborn fawns running around this time of year so I don't believe its a deer The snow isn't very deep, probablly 8 inches and the camera is set roughly 30" off the ground. The distance to the animal is probably around 12-15 feet.
cant really tell in the first photo, but the second looks feline. The one thing I DO notice is that in the first photo the head of the animal is slightly cocked toward the carmera, and the eye is closer to the center of the head rather than on the sides. This suggests predation. Just a thought.
My first impression was cougar....but you can't see a tail, but that just means you can't see it...it maybe alongsidie the other side of his body.... Looks Like a Big Cat....you didn't happen to get back and check the tracks did ya ? SB
Bobcat for sure. Looking at the daytime photo and comparing that tree to the size/position of the deer, it's definitely smaller than a deer.
Seems kind of big for a Bobcat to me. I'd have to say cougar. Even though you can't see a tail. Maybe a Bobcat was bread with a mountain lion. j/k
