We were at turkey camp on Tuesday. We were sitting around BS'ing right before dark. Then all of a sudden these bright lights starting coming right at us just over tree top high. Wasn't till it got right on us when we heard the low rumble of the engines. We thought we were about to be abducted. Turns out it was a stealth bomber flying really really low. Guess they were out training or something (there is a base not far from where we were). Pretty cool sight after we realized it wasn't aliens:)

Found the remains of an old mudslide once. Found out from my grandpa that in the 1800's that the B&O Railroad were building tracks through what is now my family's property. As they were cutting through the ground, a mudslide ensued and consumed two men and a mule. So whenever I get close to it I always make sure that I'm walking on solid ground!!!

I was scouting on public land last year. It was very hot and I didn't bring anything to drink. Then I found 6 cold beers laying in a field with nobody around. So i drank one and never ran into another hunter that day. guess i should have drank all of them!

A 3 legged skunk. The right hind leg was off at about the knee. I always wondered what the experience was like for the critter that bit it off?

While scouting a family friend's property in SW WI in 2000 I came across some tall weeds in a valley that had a strong odor that I instantly recognized as "weed". My first thought was that I am going to get shot or am on someone's survellance camera, but it did not look like anyone had back in that area in a very long time so I might be OK.

Upon getting back to the farm house without being shot at and talking with the family they already knew about it being back there. Apparently, before they purchased the farm back in the late 70's some University of WI students planted it back in this secluded valley. The DNR knew about it also. As my mind began to think of some quick get-rich illegally schemes the landowner told me that it had been back there so long that it was now just hemp. I never did cultivate any to try to make some money off of it as I am fairly confident with my luck that I would still be living in a small room with bars.

My guess it was a wring-off.

I caught one in a leg hold trap when I was very young, their scent no longer bothers me.

I noticed a platform in the tree across from me but about 15' higher than I am at 17'. At least I know that I'm in the right spot if others had stands there.
