First off I apologize if there has already been a thread covering this. But as I sit at my desk and think about anything that isn't work related I wonder what others think the most important feature of their cameras is. Living and hunting in Northern Wisconsin I put a lot of stock into battery life. Most of my cameras are set up at my property an hour and a half away so I don't get that many opportunities to get out and change batteries. I would say second most important thing would be price. What do you guys/gals look for most when investing in cameras? I'm also curious how many care about megapixels. My cameras have 8 mp settings, but aside from file size of each image I don't notice much of a difference in quality between 5 and 8 mp...
I think reliability is the biggest factor to me. Nothing pisses me off more than missed pictures. Battery life is only a monetary issue to me, I can easily check my cameras without spooking anything.
Reliability, if I can't check them and the batteries die its on me that's fine. But I get a little heated when I come home to a blank SD card that's been sitting in the woods for 2 months on corn or minerals. Happen with my primos cams all the time. I got my first covert 2 weeks ago pulling the card 2mrw hope my problems are solved. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
Reliability, battery life and range of the sensor would be my picks. I also like the idea of the black flash cameras. I have the Bushnell black flash and it is performing very well. The batteries also have been going over 3 months and it still says its about 3/4 battery life.
My lease is 3 hours away so I have a few features that are incredibly important to me. Battery life is very important, I hate when I used to drive 3 hours and walk a mile and the batteries were dead and I missed a week or more of pics. Picture quality is also very important. I want to be able to zoom in and be able to see kickers and other junk. I run a lot of cameras so price is also very important.
Today you can have everything all in one cam, Cams need to be small, camo, blackflash, great battery life, great pics, pass code and have security for locking up your investment like a python cable. or just buy a DLC covert black 60 and have your cake.
Reliability and battery life are high on my list. There is nothing more frustrating than no pics for a whole week, especially this time of yr.
reliability, durabilty, and pic quality....I like great pics and with higher MP you can zoom and crop more to see what you have further out. That being said 5-6 mp is usually all I need for deer scouting setups...like the Coverts I have and the Spypoints....though the new scouting cams I use/build now are 8mp Fujis.
1. Reliability 2. battery life 3. Quiet 4. Image quality 5. Price 6. cold weather performance 7. Black flash
I'd have to say reliability is most important. After that would be sensing area. If the sensing area is narrow, as many commercial cams are, you can miss alot of shots. It doesn'e matter how fast a camera is, it can't take a pic of what it does not see. You don't hear alot about that from camera makers but it's one of the most important factors in having a great unit. Blessings........Pastorjim
I forgot to mention picture quality. I don't know how many times I've saw trail cam pictures of other peoples bucks and I can't tell how big he Is because of poor picture quality.
