What ever speed you can no longer consistently shoot beyond 20 yards. I find that wind effects your ability to hold on target far more than the arrows flight path. Big solid hard wood trees don't usually sway too much in a brisk wind, but a little one will! Climbers don't usually take too big of a tree either...

One thing to consider, the trees don't catch as much wind if the leaves are off. Stay tied off. You should be safe.

Whatever you do.. and it may have been mentioned.... Watch for dead tree's and tree limbs in tree's around you. (tree limbs in the tree you are in too). Last year I was sitting a windy day and watched a BIG tree fall on the hillside on the other side of the bottom I was hunting. Made one heck of a boom when it hit and will squish you like a bug!

Just find the best tree you can and the lower you are the less the tree will move, good luck.

I've been in a tree when the wind was in the 20 mph range and didn't enjoy it. The tree I was in was fine, it was actually the debris falling from other tree tops that I didn't care for. My property has a lot of deadfall and soon to be deadfall so I don't like being in the stand over 15 mph winds.

Definitely depends on size of tree usually if I hear the trees making the cracking sound I'm out of there

Oaks are scary in the wind, their limbs always seem to be dead regardless of season and I always feel like I'm in a hard hat zone! Wind just adds to that!

Once sustained winds reach over 20 I'm out. I can handle gusts up to about 25-30 but don't enjoy it. Makes shots hard and having limbs fall around you is no fun. I

Depends on the stand height and tree. For some reason if the wind I'd blowing about 30mph when I'm in a ladder stand I get pretty nervous. If I'm in a hang on not so much but I think it's because the hang on moves with the tree better and I don't feel as much movement. I'm not really sure the exact reason that just my guess.

Depends on the tree. In the past I've limited it to 20mph. In our area most of the deer bed down when the wind gets close to 20mph so I usually feel like I'm wasting a "time away" card.
