Yeh..I here ya, lol!!! But if I wont to be a millionaire before I turn 40...I don't have a choice. Edit: Word to the wise....CSX stock is fixing to boom.....Ssshhhhh, its going to split again also...very soon.
You are exactly right......So why not make all you will ever need buy..say...45 years old, then never work again? You plan on dieing early Germ? Why not hit it hard then live it up and do what you want the last 30, 40 years of your life?
Who says I am not going to do just that, I just do not have to work 60+ hours to do so. Writing web applications and phone apps pays very well. I get .60 cents for every app I sell. At 1.99 and I sell 500,000 that is a nice junk of change. Now my app also works with a website, which there is a subscription fee of 20 month to use. If I get half the users on this system , well you do can do the math. That is a recurring fee every month.
I'm not taking offense to what you said Bruce but there's much more to my job then most here will ever know. Not that It's anyones business but prior to the day that I went to help my dad with tracking his bear I had already taken that day off from driving my milk truck. I had other business related work I was planning on doing that day but decided I'd do It later when I got back from helping my dad with his bear. I was wrong when I said I've never taken off of work for my daughter. I've taken a few days off for her but mostly Jenny takes care of this as she knows It's a ***** at times for me to. Although I'm not In the truck every day and every hour of the day I'm on call 24/7. Only time I'm 100% away from work Is If my cell phone won't come In. This don't happen enough. I'm always on call If my drivers have problems or If a farmer calls me at 1:00 In the morning saying his tank Isn't cooling his milk and that he needs It picked up ASAP. What I do for a living Is not an easy job and one I could not do If I was a single dad and there was no mother Involved. I put In anywhere from 60 to sometimes 100 hours per week and at times as much as 120 hours In a week. It's tough on the family no doubt, myself Included. This Is why Jenny Is the 1st option when our daughter Is sick. My job Is a different one. One that most know nothing about and the responsibility that comes with It. It's no different then having a huge head of dairy cattle myself that need to be milked everyday regardless of what goes on at home or who Is sick or what holiday It Is. It Is what It Is and everyone Involved needs to except that. My driver has taken plenty of time off If they have a sick child. I always tell him please don't hesitate to call and he knows I'm very easy to work with. I couldn't agree more. This Is how I took what you said. Don't see a thing wrong with anything you posted Brett. If your a owner or a manager/supervisor you have every right to be suspicious of someone If their becomes a pattern. Specially when It makes life miserable for other workers.
I work at a place where you either have the staff to work, or someone has to stay and work for someone else that called out "sick". I should have prefaced my initial post with that in mind. I cannot leave work unless my replacement arrives or the building is secure which could take hours. So if someone calls out bogus "sick" then they affect my personal life. If you all don't care if someone else affects your life by pulling a stunt, then more power to you. I do. I am sorry if I hit a sensitive spot with some of you.
For real man....its fixing to split again, (the stock) pleas look at it....I'm telling you this as a friend!!!!!! I'm jelouse....I'm just a lowly laborier...but with a 10th grade edgucation and a GED....LOl!
GERM, I am talking about someone calling out bogus sick and affecting everyone. I work shift work where I could work three days in a row with two days off, followed by another two days of work. So the bogus sick guys call in sick on their only two days of work over a week period, thereby giving themselves a week off. That is bs no matter how you cut it. AGAIN, I am speaking about people who call out sick and they are not. I am not talking about anything else.
LOL, No offense taken her.... any one who works less than 60 hours a week and thinks they need a day off, needs to be fired...pirod!!!!
Anybody who works more 60 hours needs to go back to school See it's easy to put yourself above others with comments. I surely don't believe what I just posted, but it was just an example of how we tend to look down on others if they don't fit Into our own ideals. VS I would take it up with the bosses, like you when someone calls in sick where I work, one of us have to pick up the work. We only have 8 people at our company, so one being out is major. If the have x amount of sick does and they use them within the rules of the employer, what can you do?
Like I have said, repeatedly, if someone else's actions have a negative influence on me I will, and have in the past, talk the them directly. They will not like, or enjoy, repeated conversations with me about how they are affecting me. They may start affecting someone else but they will stop affecting me .
Theoretically, we get unlimited sick days. How much you call off before your boss says something, probably varies. Some people in my dept get sick a lot, legitimately. You can tell because they are the coughing, sniffling, looking like death warmed over even when they come back to work. It's very difficult for us to know how much sick time another person is using. Because sometimes its called "sick" sometimes vacation & sometimes jsut "out of office". One thing that I find odd is that you can call of sick, without any repercussion, and it's "free". But if you need to schedule a doctors appt because of said illness, you have to use your vacation time.
Most companies have what is called PTO these days. Paid Time Off. It's used as vacation and sick time, VS this may be an option for your company. Being folks don't want to eat up their vacation time.
Germ I work for the local county government. They give you 100 sick leave hours a year. Call out central is in effect. If you call in less than 30 hours sick each year you get 16 hours of annual leave given to you each year. I get those annual leave hours given to me each year. So I guess there is a benefit to holding tight, showing integrity, and coming to work.
If your company can do fine with you missing frequent days or unplanned exodus you might just be surprised when they don;t need you at all.
Gary: You make $300,000.00.....before we get to your salary and benefits (based solely on your aps sales)? Congratulations. You're the highest paid computer nerd I know. Are you guys hiring? I'll go back to school. No wonder all your relatives want to come live with you.
I get unlimited paid sick days and 4 weeks paid vacation. I think I took 1 sick day last year. There are only 7 of us in our office. 2 scientists, 2 geologists, 2 field technicians and our secretary. Our secretary takes a sick day at least once a week it seems, but our shareholder is afraid of firing her because she is a black "disabled" veteran. The rest of us rarely take sick day.
Their my apps, LOL It's obvious you do not know how it works with Apple. You signed up as a developer, not as a company. You build an app, if the app is approved you sell it on ITunes for X amount. You get around .60 cents for every dollar. If you make a really popular app that sells, you can make some serious cash. The other option is to sell it for free and sell advertising on the app. If a lot of folks download your app, you can get a lot of cash just for advertising. http://blog.businessopportunities.c...ear-old-entrepreneur-becomes-millionaire.html This kid made over a million and he's not even old enough to go to school yet Yes my mother with Parkinson's disease may come live with me, you got me Jeff.
