We have a 25 gallon freshwater aquarium. My daughters goldfish died after a year tonight. We buried it underneath her apple tree. It was a rough night. We are going to purchase something else to put in there.

In your opinion what is the best fish for us to get?

Beta. Aka Siamese fighting fish. Beautiful fish but you can only have one in a tank.

They don't even need a pump.

I can vouch that zebrafish are tough to kill. In my vertebrate embryology class we had experiments where we mixed different concentrations of alcohol with the water in the tank with their eggs and they didn't die, just had altered development and vitals. You can even breed them pretty easily if you buy a smaller tank to do breeding in.

Gonna buy 6 of these in the next couple of days. Very small fish and the 25 gallons seems plenty. No heater and they are tough.
