Go to Canon's refurbished website and check out their video cameras.

If you search the video forum you can find very similar threads where people have asked the same question...there are some good and useful threads about this. Here is a link to one from yesterday that I posted in as well, check it out http://forums.bowhunting.com/videography-photography/67844-good-filming-set-up.html and def do a search and check out some others...should def get you an idea of what you should have and what direction you want to go in....good luck!!!

Start small. Way to many people jump in head first and drop a bunch of money for the camera to sit idle. Check reviews and find a decent camera for 250 or less then upgrade from there if you like. The smaller camera can be used for a second angle so nothing is wasted or done in vain.

I haven't thought about this but I do want to upgrade before next season. Obviously you're recommending it but does Canon actually do a good job refurbishing cams and do you know the warranty?

Bought a couple cameras from their refurbished site and it looks brand new, never been used. Warranty looks like year...

This is what I use. It's a $125 pawn shop special, HD, good low light, wind elimination and great zoom. I also use a Pine ridge arm I picked up for $50.
