I had a wrist strap on my bow but when I took it off my accuracy went exponentially. I left it off, but what is supposed to be the benefit of it?
Allows you to not put torque on the bow by gripping it. With a strap you can just hold the bow out and not worry about twisting the riser and whatnot.
I shoot semi-open handed. I don't grip the handle, but just let it sit in my hand when I'm drawn back. After the release, maintain your follow-thru, including your hand position. The wrist sling keeps your bow in place so you don't have to close your hand as you shoot, torquing your bow.
I have heard that the strap isn't as necessary on the newer more parallel limb bows because the forces are more up and down rather than forward, so the bow doesn't want to shoot out of your hand as much. Is there are truth to this?
