http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/sh...me-reason-seem-to-want-Randy-Mo?urn=nfl-wp891 Randy Moss? Jets? Didn't Randy Moss confess his devotion to the Pats last year? lol The strength of the Jets has been that they play like a team and have great team camaraderie. Randy Moss doesn't exactly fit that mold does he?
If Randy Moss got a little hair up his rear and dedicated himself to his off-season workouts, then I would say the Jets are making a decent decision with the Moss thing. If Moss failed to workout hard and better himself physically then I say the Jets are making a terrible decision.
What does history tell us about Moss? Terrible decision. Don't forget he is 34 years old. Even if he did apply himself he is no spring chicken. The risk far outweighs the reward IMO.
Brad, is a healthy/generally physically fit Randy Moss as good as most 3rd receivers in the NFL? Will he be able to catch 400-500 yards with 5-7 TD's this year? If the answer is yes, then I would say the decision is not a bad one if he has kept up with his physical fitness.
Let's consider more than just stats. He is a deep ball home run threat receiver. The guy doesn't catch any balls underneath. He won't go over the middle. He gives 100% of his effort on less than 1/2 the plays. His run blocking is usually terrible. And he is a cancer in the locker room typically. Even if he does make those stats the amount of morare he takes from the other players is not worth it IMO.
I have to agree, however, Randy Moss, when Motivated (not that I believe that is possible anymore), was the GREATEST receiver I ever saw play the game!!! I saw a video of him one time as a ball was coming in, and he's the only guy in the world who doesn't get the "eyes" to indicate "THE BALL IS COMING." He had a TRUE talent, but was one of the least motivated players that has probably ever played the game!!! SAD to see such talent without any motivation.
My 4th year in college we needed to beat Northern Iowa in the 1-AA quaterfinals and we would have squared off with Marshall and played Randy Moss, and also would have been on ESPN2. We lost by a field goal. Everyone was bummed.
No question. In his early years at Minnesota he was unstoppable. I remember many instances when he singlehandlly beat the Packers. It's too bad he could not be a little bit more "stable" upstairs with all the talent he had (has). That sucks Brett. I hope you were not playing defense back. lol Otherwise it was a blessing in disguise. lol
