Is it a soaking wet raccoon or a fisher? Central MN. Plus some extras. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd say definitely a Fisher. I think the body is too big to be a coon. Loved your wood duck pics. Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
My initial thought was otter, bit looks like there is some longer hair. Back end is too jacked up too.
We don't have many up here but they are super aggressive and nasty. They are turkey and chicken killing machines. They can climb better than coons and are better fighters. If scared they will attack humans instead of running.
That is a perfect desciption! Literally they pulled out the window openings to kill every chicken we had, pulled a turkey off its roost and stuffed parts of it in back of me wooden ladder stand. They will kill fawns your rabbits, and ground nesting birds. not to mention the eggs. The one great thing about them, they like feral cats and that population has plummeted. Ps . We have a fast growing population here.
I’ve seen quite a few of them in NY. I guess I shouldn’t antagonize them when I’m in my tree stand. I’ve whistled at them and have tried dropping stuff on them when they have been around my stand they just go about there business and pay me no mind.
My biggest issue even more than turkey, which I find carcasses throughout summer, and fawns is the grouse ,pheasants population. Yes we did have a few pheasant that were nesting. Those two had a big enough problem before, now we rarely see either.
They are fur bears here in NYS so no can't just shoot unless a nuisance permit is given, which wouldn't be . Yes they can be trapped but no sure on areas. Details in regulations
I have fowl chickens and goats... I find them on my acreage they get shot. As for legality I think trapping only and further south as I'm up by Canada.
I don't think I've ever got one on cam. Didn't expect it to be so big and had no idea how bad they are. Stay away from my turkeys and fawns!
Believe me if you have one that big and the habitat in pics you will be seeing many more in 5 years. I chased one in the gator last week. They remind me of inch worms as they run just WAY faster. They have few predators, bob cats will kill younger ones and maybe more than one coyote. One of few animals that will kill and eat porcupine. Picture that size with a mouth full of weasel type teeth and squirrel climbing ability and they can move on the ground.
