    GutOneForMe,

I noticed the same thing with my Secret Weapon Plot I planted. I sprayed with roundup and a few days later I used a pull behind disc with the four wheeler. I then broadcasted with a grass seeder( the soybean seeds kept plugging the spinner up) and finished it up by packing the seed into the ground with a lawn roller. Hopefully you will see how I put my plot in on the June Episode of Bowhunt or Die. I recorded several tips and hopeully its enjoyable to watch.

    I hope it rains soon.

Can't wait to see how it turns out Trevor.

I would have had to sort the seeds and spread the bigger ones first then drug over them then spread the smaller seeds and packed them down with the 4-wheeler tires. I am pretty anal about stuff like that. Sounds like a good mix just a pain to plant correctly.

I would probably use lawn roller, too. That's how we have been doing ours. Work up soil good, broadcast seed, then go over everything with roller.

*Just gonna be 100% honest...what I put in bold is so true...and honestly a rookie mistake a seed company IMO shouldn't make.

I would have to do the same thing you did Pat. Some seeds barely need any soil coverage...others an inch...sounds like I'll be passing on Heartland seed mixes. I would have sorted out the larger seeds first and planted them, burying them as they need, then smaller seeds with some light raking over them (I do almost all plots by hand so hand rake is what I use..no fancy equipment).

I only have one done in clover and considering we are at the end of May, not sure I am going to plant much else. Maybe sunflowers in another spot.

If you go to their website they explain how to plant their plots....it says on their website to plant the large seeds first, disking them in, then planting the smaller ones on to and dragging or rolling them in.

That's the key....I was under the impression they are not packaged seperately.

In the Secret Weapon plot mix bag, the bigger seeds were bagged seperatly than the smaller seeds.

I'm a bit of a foodplot junky. Hunt central MN. I have 4 acres of alfalfa (planted last year). Added another 10 apple trees to the orchard, a 1/2 acre of corn and an acre of soybeans this spring. Planning on a 1/4 acre "deer creek seed" brassica plots later this summer. Never tried clover, not sure if it would add much with the alfalfa, any thoughts?

It's nearly impossible to know. All depends on the deer and what they prefer in your area. I'm a huge advocate and fan of the more you can offer the better. They'll tell you if it's worth re-planting in the future or cycling in something different. Prime example of this is sunflowers....our deer destroy sunflower while others on this board and even not too far geographically from me state their deer population don't touch them...being a foodplot junkie I'd say put in a small stand with an growth cage to judge use and have fun with the test :D
