Im reading a book on traditional archery, and building traditional bows. its a pretty good book but lacks a little bit in explaining the vocab....... but anyway back to my question, what is ment if a bow your are making "takes a set"?
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it means that after you make the bow and have shot it a little bit, then it will often stretch and adjust a little bit making you have to once again alter your shooting form with it. So for example when you buy a new compound bow and sight it in, it will be accurate when you first sight it in, but then after 100 shots or so the strings will have stretched making you have to sight it in again for the new adjustments..
