Would it be better if I read it on a forum? It is on the list of many terms I've come to know from TV and the Interwebs. Things like: Saddle, mock scrape, camera arm, QDMA, soft edges, walk-back tuning, etc, etc. ... and I was cool way before I heard those works.
I'm not stating my OPINION on this one. A few years ago I was bashed in response of my OPINION on this same question!!!
The same people that call a stand site a set are the hunt filmers, these people are ruining the sport much like how fantasy football has ruined the NFL. It is not the way the sport was meant to be enjoyed.
Correct! A set is a trapping term that kids today have incorrectly adopted as a term they think means to put up a stand for hunting.
LMAO!!! you can tell the season is getting close......same time every year, people arguing over everything. If it will piss people off or cause more eye rolling, than I'm calling every stand a "set" from now on, especially when I'm self filming aka ruining the sport...
Post all your work on you-tube especially those management hunts, you know the kind they get posted all too often doe hunts and small bucks. Do that and you will be on your way to get a coveted pro staff position.
I wonder what they used to call a trapping "set" before they called it a "set"? I honestly don't really call it anything. I name most of my stand locations so I know specifically what one I'm talking about.
Since one "sets" a trap, its safe to assume its been called a set in the trapping world since the beginning of trapping. Like you I dont call my bowhunting locations anything either. Perhaps a "stand site" or "stand location"
