I know gun control seems to be all we talk about in the cooler right now. So sorry to bring up another gun question on a bow site. But i was wondering, if semi automatic guns get banned down the line some where, what happens? I see so many people saying they are going to go buy them while they can and see it on the news. So if they ban them, do those people get to keep them? Are they some how grandfathered in? I'm sure theres no real answere to this, as it all depends on the law makers. Just wondering more what your guess is on the question I guess.
Couple months ago Illinois governor tried passing a awb and it stated that after 90 days of the law passing that was it. Everything before that was grandfathered in. As far as what they'll come up with who knows
Ok gotcha. Guess ill start saving my pennies and buy myself one or 2...incase we ever get to that point here.
First a few things need to be cleared up. AR's were never Illegal, ever. AR's with flash suppressors, 10+ round mags, and collapsible stocks were. Along with Pistol's with a 10+ round mags. I imagine the new ban would follow the same guidelines, though I hope they are more refined. We are already experiencing "the rush" big time. I worked the gun counter for 1 hour today. Sold and AR-15 and an AK47 to one customer. 3 AR15's to another. One final AR15 to a Superbowl Champ. In one HOUR. What is going to change? Nothing different compared to the original AWB. I've no doubt that we will see a ban. My fear is with what could be following.
Your last sentence is I think what not many people realize. I'm with you in thinking the first wave of new restrictions will only be beginning
I'll be glad I have one. Going to get a couple lowers this weekend. Might as well. Even if I don't keep them they will be worth alot more than I paid.
Hard to say with the society of the Nation on a cultural swing in recent years.. I mainly fear a total ban on Semi-Auto's. Taxes on Ammo and components so high that we can't touch them?
So is it you just don't want one? OR You're not allowing the media and scare tactics to control what you buy and when?
Obviously I can't speak for Donnie, but this is how I feel. I have literally ZERO need for an AR. I don't varmint hunt and if I did I would use a bolt gun. My Glock is plenty to defend my home. I don't shoot in competitions. I don't think it's a matter of media scare tactics. There WILL be an AWB, I can almost gurantee that wit 100% certainty. If a guy wants a pre-ban AR he needs to buy now, as in tomorrow. We are running out of them in a hurry. The last time a rush like this happened (after 2008 election) we couldn't touch an AR for 8 months... This rush has twice as bad in terms of demand and numbers. You will not see an AR on a shelf, ban or not, for a year or more I wager.
Well ill be honest its not so much I have a need for one...currently. but, I have always planned on buying at least one. My beretta will do just fine defending my house. But what if something should happen to where I need to defend my town...state...country. the right to bare arms was not so our founding fathers could go out and kill deer. It was so that we could defend ourselves through all times. It's a cute thought that we will never have someone invade our country. But, truth is you never know. And, should that happen in my life time, i hope to have more then a few hunting rifles, a hang gun, and a bow. Plus, I'd love to get into some coyote hunting. So I do plan on getting at least one asap.
Like I said, if you plan on getting one, you need to get it in the next day or two or you will not get one. Sh*t or get off the pot has never rang so true Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
You might find real basic setups, non detach carry handles, in the coming months. Unfortunately used guns will likely be gouged incredible amounts. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I hear you. Well see. I won't be ready till tax time (assuming we even get a return lol). Should have bought one last year like I wanted.
At that point it might be easier to buy components ( lower, upper, stock, etc..) that way you can build exactly what you want. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Guns were already taken off the shelves at ****s and Bass Pros here in Ohio. Sac got the last AR15 lower at our outfitter in Ashland Ohio too.
I would suggest locating a lower receiver now and buying it. They cannot restrict the rest of the components because the are not federally regulated. It is only the lower receiver. Unless they change that law too. You can still find lowers online, but a lot of manufacturers are sold out.
