So I got in the stand around 6:40 am this morning... Decided to sit all day (deer have been coming at random times all year on my camera) Soo at about 2:45 I heard a rustle about 60 yards away.. Waited for about 5 minutes and this nice doe showed herself... I let her walk in close and waited for her to to give me a broadside shot.. She gave me a good look so I drew back (I cant draw back without taking like 4 ibuprofen due to a bad shoulder) and another deer from behind me (I was turned 180-220 degrees away from where the 1st deer came out so I didn't see the 2nd one I was focused) anyways it made this wild sound that deer make to warn each other and the 2nd doe took off back into the woods.. the 1st doe ran behind a bush covering her body but I could still see her head and she was staring at me.. I was drawn back and didn't want to shoot her in the head and she stared me down for a good 5 minutes (I have nooo idea how I stayed drawn back the whole time but I did) and so she finally stepped out in the open again and I shot.. She ducked like super low and the arrow must have skinned the top of her back.. She took off making that warning sound like crazy.. I just sat down pissed.. Thinking I sucked at hunting.. 15 minutes later I was blessed with another chance.. A doe stepped into my area about 75 yards away and I grunted her in to about 40.. I took a shot at her and the same thing happened.. Shot a little high when she ducked down like they do... She ran about 15 yards away but I grunted her back.. I decided that since I was shooting so bad I didn't want to take another shot risking a shot that would only injure her... and It was about 45 yards away... So what do yall think happened? I shoot great while shooting at targets...? Did the doe fever get to me? I was shaking pretty bad.... Idk...
You lowered your arm instead of bending at the waist. Then the doe fever and frustration took over. You may have picked the incorrect pin in your haste to make the shot.
You proved that you are human. I missed a nice doe opening day, broadside 25yrds, she jumped the string. I wanted to quit, 30 min later, I smoked a nice mature, branch! I shoot a single pin sight to eliminate decision making, heart pounded I didn't see the branch. Almost cried. A week later, I threaded the needle on a nice eight point. Hitting the Target, not dwelling on failure, and sometimes just getting to bed early to hit it tomorrow, is all it takes. Odds are ur a damn good archer, don't let doubt in.
