When I was 10 or so a buddy of mine said he wanted to get a bow so he could shoot a buck in velvet. I had no idea what he meant, but it sounded cool.
My uncle killed a 178 inch whitetail and it bugged me bad (didn't help that he was running his mouth about it all the time either). So in my woods last year i passed on him, got him on film a high 160 low 170 class 14 point buck in my river bottom on the Red River in Southern Oklahoma. This year I haven't caught him on film yet but he'll show his self when I get my food plot in. I knew the only way i could kill him without someone else getting to him before I did is to start bow hunting. Our neighbor said he's seen him once this year out in the field 150 yards from my best stand and glassed him. He said he will easily be over 180 and may be pushing 190 to 195. I'm crossing my fingers and wish me luck this upcoming season. Thanks to my uncle he pushed me to beat him but, in the mean time bow hunting is the most fun thing I've ever done in my life.
