This year: Get my first deer with bow Shoot a deer over 140 with rifle or bow Shoot my 10th deer (have killed 9) Do alot of hunting with my best friend Next 5: Go out west and bowhunt Kill a bunch of stuff :P
Well I'm not sure what Fitz is getting at but in GA the game warden would be after you. Spotlighting = illegal activity here
1. Better practice routine and accuracy with my bow. 40+ yards. 2. Tag a deer. Period. 3. Figure out an area/property on my own. Theres not alot of public access up here so most of what I hunt is the family's property. 4. Tag a buck bigger than 100" All of these goals can be accomplished. However the area I hunt is not a deer mecca by any means. I live in Northern New York half an hour from the Canadian Border. Also there is alot of private land and not alot of public land around here so my hunting is very limited. A high population of "hunters" and poachers around here contributes to a lack of deer too.
I plan to return to Alaska annually from here on out. Georgia Alligator this September Wyoming Pronghorn this August I'd like to pull off a Moose Caribou or Elk hunt fall of 2014
His facts are that he lives and hunts up in the Northern bigwoods....he is smart enough to tell you that spotlighting up there is not going to work. And spotlighting where I hunt would not only not work, but it would be illegal. Shobee, you are starting to come across as a real know it all.
1. Learn how to scout land better and pick a good spot to put my climber on public land. (Off to a good start on this thanks to Michael Pearce) 2. Get better at shooting my bow from 20 yards and move back to 30 eventually. 3. KILL MY FIRST DEER IN 2012!!!!
Well here are mine 1: Enjoy the woods with my father and my friend and his dad. 2: See plenty of deer this next bow season. 3: Get the mineral blocks out in the woods 4: Buy some 4 more moultrie m-80s 5: Buy a new bow sight 6: Buy 3 more hang on stands and at least 1 millenium for gun season. 7: Shine the fields during august to see what kind of bucks are running around 8: Convince my dad to build across the road from our hunting land because we just bought 2 acres right across the road. 9: And finally convince my dad to buy a bad boy buggy haha its a long walk to our north 40.
Scouting the woods looking for trails, rubs, scrapes, scat, sheds, beds, browse, licking branches, and the like. I focus on funnels & pinch points for starters. Studying topo maps and satellite photos can get you pointed in the right direction. Trail cameras help, but it doesn't do you any good if you place them where there aren't any deer. I can see where shinning in certain locations can be helpful to establish an inventory, but I don't see how it can tell you "all about all your bucks". For instance, where are they bedding? What routes do they take? Where will they be during the rut?
#1 - I hope I can still pull back a bow in 5 years. #2 - I hope I have a decent place to hunt.... even if it's still public land.
1. Kill a buck that is 180"+ gross 2. Get a bow kill on film 3. Be on stand with my wife when she shoots her first deer with a bow. 4. Colorado Elk hunt
1. See Britney kill her first deer ( hopefully this fall ). 2. See Britney kill her first bow deer ( hopefully next fall ). 3. Go elk hunting with Troy ( shed 33 ). 4. Give buckeye some competition this year before he gets tired of beating me. 5. See what everyone kills and read about their hunts on here. ( not much of a goal but very fun to see every year ) 6. Kill another buck over 170 but will be happy with anything over 150. 7. Just enjoy hunting and shed hunting. Tim
