Way to many to list but the very first thing and it might sound funny but the flight of the very first arrow I saw fly.. Walt
As others have stated, its hard to narrow it down to just one aspect but I'll play the game. I really, really enjoy being up close and personal with my quarry. Knowing that one wrong move can ruin the hunt for the day maybe the rest of the year (for that spot) makes my heart race and my blood pump!
Hi, this will be my first post here. Also this is going to be my first year bow hunting, I am only 13, and what drew me to the sport was that I could hunt less than a mile from my house and I just buy liscense over the counter instead of putting into a lottery. last it will be somthing that sticks with me for life i hope.
It isn't about the close proximity for me, all my rifle kills were WELL within bow range besides one doe. To me it is about the whole process of shooting the animal. Watching the arrow fly, etc. I just get 10x the adrenaline rush with bow in hand than with a rifle.
Lengthens my season... But a dead deer, is a dead deer in my eyes, anyway you kill it... Bow hunting happens to be more challenging and up close, which is shear adrenaline!!!
There is something very special about the intimacy of bowhunting. The fact that the game are so close and how we get to watch the deer acting natural. When hunting with gun, that is lost. A deer can be put down from such a great distance that you loose that. I have been hunting all my life and since 97 with a bow. I would never dream of not bow hunting. In fact in Washington you have to choose. When you buy a tag you have to specify Archery -OR- Modern -OR- Muzzle Loader. Ever since my first time out with the bow, I have chosen Archery. Then I moved to Wisconsin, Whoo Hoo, we can do everything, but the passion is archery and bow hunting.
For me I can sum up bowhunting in almost one word... Serenity Not being disturbed by everything of the outside world. Just being in the woods is another world that cannot be replicated nor can it be replaced. Chasing down a species that is meant to survive at all costs. And it a great way to put food on the table!
It's a million things for me also, but, for the sake of "The Game" I will have to say it's the challenge of hunting a mature animal... getting in his "living room" without him knowing you're there and making the perfect shot or even if I don't connect but still learn a thing or two... that's the one thing that draws me to bowhunting.
