get back to me in late october and i'll tell ya then what it means... at the moment, imho, it means precisely d!ck
It didnt mean much to me last week. VT IMO gets the most love in the nation for doing nothing every year. I mean they have been a top 10 preseason team for years and have lost their season opener for years... Now lost to a to a Jr. college as well...
Boise St. needs Oregon St. (if they beat them) and VT to be as hoghly ranked as possible at the end of the season. With VT being 0-2....and Oregon St. losing their opener.......it means a lot more than some want to let on, especially with each team losing to who they did. Ask Mich. about those "juco" teams.
I did not say that because I care about VT, I could care less that they lost. I am just stating a fact that at any give time the top ten D-1AA teams could beat mid-level D-1A schools. And from the looks of it, VT is one of those mid-level D-1 teams.
Oh...they can do better than that. What was Michigan ranked when App. St. beat them AT Michigan? And, let's don't even talk about baseball. D1 teams want NO PART of the country's best Juco's. They know better.
That loss alone crushed their hopes for a title shot. Boise, IMO, needs to step up to the big leagues, or else quit moaning about never getting a shot for the title. A One loss SEC or Big 10 team is a HELL of a lot more accomplished than an undefeated Boise Team. Either that, or we can all continue to pray for a BCS playoff system to truly produce a champion team.
It means they (VT) were totally deflated by Boise and it will effect the entire season. It doesn't lessen Boise's win.
Maybe not by the "feel-good" crowd. The BCS reacts, differently. It SUCKED for Boise in the BCS realm.
The win definitely means less today in the BCS eyes, as it could mean more or less again before the season is over. Right now, that win isn't looking so great. You can bet the BSU team and coaches weren't thrilled to see the outcome of that game.
