i've seen many people use heartland or whitetail, does anybody use anything else that is a very good product for up north? anybody just buy the seeds from a regular garden center? which is the better choice?
All we plant is just Turnips, The are pretty easy to grow and deer love them. We just buy a big bag of turnip seeds from a garden center and they are pretty cheap when you buy a bunch of them.
I never get BOB ( buck on bag) seed. I have 12 acres of foodplots. I go to the local feedmill and pickup 1200 lbs. of winter rye/rape/ptt (60/5/1.5/acre) and do my own mix. 42 cents a pound. 1/2 lb. of pumpkin, 4lbs. ew, 3 bags of beans.
9 times out of 10, I buy from our local ag center. I don't usually buy premixed commercial plot products. You tend to save quite a bit of money. If you can't find it locally, try Welter seed.
