I use almost all except the box cant do it, just cant guess thats my tumor acting up but cant use the damn thing wont work right 4 me. I use a A-frame primos mouth call, lost my li'l duece glass and striker on youth day loved that call strongly recommend it to all. bought a slate call not long back and its alright but its not the duece what do you use?
I use em all. Box call the least just because IMO it is the least versatile of the bunch and the most cumbersome to tote around. If I shed the vest, which I do more often than not these days I'm only packin one slate/glass combo and 4 diaphragms. Used a combo of my pro v cutter and slate call to call in the group of 5 gobblers on youth weekend, hoping to repeat in Kansas this weekend
shoot you need to pass that one on down gri22ly let somebody else kill some.lol.. when does ya'lls season start up yonder in ky. ? who makes that call you talking about? i'll listen to you when it comes to calls i'm still going to give you hell about bball ha-ha just ribbing ya lil'bit
Usually just diaphram and slate calls as well. I did forget my mouth calls one morning and proceeded to finish calling a tom in using just my mouth. That is one I will never forget.
I carry multiple mouth calls, multiple slate/glass pot calls and multiple box calls because you just never know what a particular gobbler wants to hear or respond to. You (all) might be surprised how many birds you walk by or how many just don't respond because your using the wrong call. Saw this all to often. Just switching calls can make all the difference in the world.
I'm pretty new to turkey hunting so I only use the box call. I find it the easiest to use. I have tried branching out a little bit but keep coming back to the box call as my favorite.
I carry an assortment of mouth calls and a box call. Hardly ever use the box call though. Once its go time, i stick with the mouth calls because of the lack of movement that's necessary.
My lucky box call mostly. Very old, handed down. But sounds better than most of the new stuff I've tried. Sometimes mouth calls, but I'm still learning so I stick to what sounds/works best in the woods. Not gonna "practice" while hunting :D
i wonder why nobody has came out with a device to mimic a toms gobble? is there such device now that isnt electronic
Guess I was raised on the "push button" box calls...my dad has killed all his turkeys with only the QuakerBoy EasyYelper (purs & yelps)...so for me it's a push button box call, and 1-2 mouth calls...if it requires two hands I usually won't pack it. But, for real windy days, a typical box call has best volume for me and I'll throw it in pack.
Only a slate and a box call the first two seasons. This season I'll be packing a slate, glass, and aluminum pots with wood, graphite, and metal strikers. I might take a few of my mouth calls, but I'm still not quite confident enough, I don't think.
