I normally do not try and target spikes or deer with unbranched antlers due to their age, but in tx I am allowed one spike or deer with at least one unbranched antler. I have this deer coming to my feeder along with some other spikes. Do you think this deer would amount to anything, kind of looks like bad genetics to me by looking at his goofy rack or would it be one to target to take out?
Impossible to tell what a deer that young will grow into... Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yea I understand that. I've seen pics of what spikes can grow into as well. Just seems like he is off to a bad start compared the rest of the deer I have on camera.
1.5 years to 3.5 years old I would give him a couple years at least I would target a spike that is older than the one you posted
Well good news is I have plenty of spikes on camera this year that are a lot bigger. I'll let him pass this year but hopefully I can keep tabs on him throughout the next couple years!
I say let em walk. Won't know if you dont. If you need meat drop a doe (or a pig) Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
How goofy did you look when you were a pre-teen? I don't shoot young bucks regardless of what their spike looks like.
I would let him walk. Well, here in Florida there is a 3 point minimum. So, of course i'd let him walk right by Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
