according to this.. a good portion of people from johnstown pa must be white trash... I dont really agree with that though. On the other hand, its probably best to respect your mom's wishes.

Um, no I don't. I try very hard not to judge people. It's rude and insulting. And for all you know, the man walking around Target or Wal-mart in full camo may have just come from hunting. It's ridiculous to judge people based on the clothes they put on their body. Especially a teenager.

And no, not all humans are shallow. Real men know how to dress properly? Really? I always question people when they start throwing out "real men...." "real men know...." It's ignorant and arrogant.

I'm sure you do try, but you still do it. We all judge. That is just fact.

Yes. Really. A man should know how to dress properly. Nothing ignorant about it.

Your 100% on base, dressing is just one facet of acting appropriately in life. This boys mother is teaching a life lesson... like it or not people judge you by how you present yourself.

Until you graduate or get a job where camo is a necessity, listen to your mom. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that I would have changed a lot if I could go back to my high school days. Primarily studying more. Parents and respectable grownups aren't trying to be mean when they try and change your path. They're speaking from experience and in more cases than you'll want to believe now, you won't regret listening to them in the future.

    I
    LMAO!

I'm with hooker. Know how to dress right for the situation. Camo at school.. well.... is a bad choice. I am also on the shallow list. And I judge people too , as does everyone to some degree whether you want to admit it or not. Hell while you're at it you can put me on the arrogant (i like confident better) list. Ahhhhh that felt good.

OP... dude lose the camo at school. Chicks don't dig it.

    Here's what you do................

Wear full camo where ever you go. Make sure you also have a camo bandanna. Make sure that your camo pants are 12 sizes too big. Bush your ear lobes and get your whole body covered in hunting tattoos.

If you do this, you will be gauranteed to have to hunt for a living. :)

Appropriate dress for Wal-Mart? Maybe. But does it make you think he is a smart, wealthy, class act that drives a shiny new pickup and gives back to his community? Or, do you think he chose not to listen to his momma when he was in Hi-Skool?

If his momma told him to wrap it up when he was younger, and judging by his shirt, I would guess he did listen to her.

I see no problem with it but I'm also a knuckle dragging, tobacco spitting, white trash. The industry has come up with camo type clothing that is acceptable. Under aromor has sweat shirts out that are a plain color but the UH is camo i see no problem with these or other sorts of camo. As long as its not full camo I think its ok. Why not represent a sport you enjoy?

Should I only wear my boots and cowboy hat when moving cows? What should I be wearing?

Hell I have a camo tie and get compliments on it all the time but then again I guess I'm not a "real man"

Perhaps the most interesting part of this thread is that Hooker understands how to properly dress himself. A cajun who defied the odds where camo is worn at formal events...

Here's to you Hooker. Like a 2.5 yo Michigan buck, you have overcome great odds.

Why the hell do you still live in LA?

Actually, southern culture is really formal when you get away from all the rednecks. The whole "southern gentlemen" thing is huge for the middle to upper class here, NOLA in particular. The old line NOLA restaurants are really strict about dress code. I've notice that in most other progressive cities, such as Denver, Austin, Seattle, San Fran, LA, and even New York to an extent, has really become more casual lately. The fact that I don't wear a tie to a nice dinner is frowned upon by many here.

    Family. That's it.

I did not know this. About my only exposure to LA is what I see on tv. You know, Swamp People, Billy the Exterminator, The Water Boy, etc.

You should check out Bayou Billionaires and Redneck Vacation. Both new shows featuring local families. I'm sure you would enjoy them.
